Whats with their BDUs(or whatevever the Brits call them) and their field jackets. I thought they had a desert uniform. Is it because their air force?
And those colored patches and the berets in the combat zone? Weird. |
Uh oh. He's got that look in his eye. I wonder if he just asked her to check out his "foregrip." Cool pics, BT! |

When I saw the title I began thinking "Since when did the afghanis make SA80s?!?!?!?!?"
No Way...The primitive Afghan and Pakistan Tribesmen know crap when they see it. No SA-80's will be produced in Dharra. |

I had an ANA soldier offer to trade an extra AK for my sunglasses a few weeks ago. You can buy an AK for a fraction of what an old Enfield runs, just because all we can take home are the old Enfields so they bring more $$$$ for them from us. |
He could buy every Enfield he finds and sell them in the UK or US.
I've considered it, what do they bring back home? Keep in mind very few here have all original parts and some are highly, highly "customized". |
those pics by the cemetary are real nice. Nothin glike that military connection between past and present. IIRC, even in US, basic training involves service, unit, etc. history - right?
Up here I can get an original in shootable condition for around $200CDN, the price varies from that on condition. One of the range owners just bought a Tower of London flintlock pistol for 600, unfired, take it all for what you will |

How many do you want??? Mark |

I'd love to get my hands on one of the Brit field-jackets.
I was going to trade for one at Grafenwoehr, but the Abbott battery left before we could swap our gear! |
I think it is some of the smartest looking stuff out there........................I just bought a digital boonie hat.to se eif it would grow on me........It did'nt........I guess I am too "old schol" to appreciate digital camo!!

If you really are interested in one, I can look into prices and possibly getting and sending one over to you. It's no problem. Really. British DPM (disruptive pattern material) has for a long time been considered the best camo design available. Many others are based on it and it is sold to other countries as well. The guy in the pic with the dog is wearing a Goretex over-jacket. These are readily available on the surplus market Here's an example from Ebay UK Goretex jacket Other types available are the Soldier 95 jacket in Ripstop. leightweight yet hard wearing and very comfortable. This is very popular with shooters over here, and the SAS type smock. This has a hood and is in a heavier windproof cotton. Mark |

Ventile? |
Don't know much about textiles Mark |
Could you find out? Ventile is a special weave of cotton, so tight that the yarns close up when they get wet, actually preventing moisture from passing through. Commercially made (Barbour) jackets and smocks made with Ventile sell for over $500 in the US. I'd be really interested if I could get my hands on some for a lot less. |
Barbours sell for over $500 You're joking, right?? I have a Barbour, who wants it So a Barbour is Ventile cotton, and then waxed, am I correct?? All I can tell you from looking at the washing label on my "SAS" jacket is it's 70% cotton and 30% polyester. The material is quite heavy and has a brushed denim feel to it. upon closer inspection it is similar to the Barbour's material. Mark |
Mark, waxed Barbours are around $350 here. Fucking exchange rate, mate.
Ventile clothing is not waxed. It does not need the wax proofing to repel water, the fabric alone does it by itself. That's why it's so dear. |
WOW....I didnt expect it to around $500 for sure.......................I was thinking about 1 Jacket if you could fid a price so we could see how much than I would be able to make a decision based on the shipped price...................I dont want you to waste too much time on this.

What? You can bring home Enfields? ??? I thought pretty much anything weapon related from AFG and IQ was a big no-no. |
