I started a BT session for a movie last night and I
just logged into my file server to check its status:

99.4% complete
0 seeds
10 peers

This means that myself and 10 other people have
at least 99.4% of the file and we are all waiting for
one person with the last 16 parts to connect to the
torrent.

So close, yet so far...

BTDT.  Seen it soooooo often on almost all the P2P systems I've ever used.

so copy the damn file out of your 'partial' directory, rename it to the proper extension and play it.

The same thing is happening to me right now as a matter of fact, trying to download Battlestar Galactica season 1 and 2, and no one is uploading.

Dammit.

It's going to suck if I have to nuke that
torrent after downloading 682M of a 687M
avi file.

I wonder if there is a program that will allow
me to insert "Scene Missing" cards for
those 5M of I-Frames ala the Closer
video.

What movie?

Also, is BitTorrent faster/better/have more files than Limewire and other P2P programs? What are the advantages of BitTorrent?

Stump Sluts 8.

Actually, it's worse: it's anime.
Only Yesterday

BitTorrent breaks files up into small parts.
You then "trade" the parts that you have
with other people for parts that you don't.

The advantage is that you are distributing
a file before you have completed the download.
Therefore, the file is propagated though the
network faster (assuming you have alot of
people sharing parts).

The problem that I ran into is that no one
has all of the parts therefore, we are all
waiting for someone with the missing parts
to connect.

eta: I've been watching this session for about
10 minutes and some cock-tease seed keeps
connecting, not giving up any parts, then
disconnecting. Fuck it. I'm not bored
enough to watch a BT session all night.

have you tried a multinetwork client, like Shareaza?

Connect to gnutella1, gnutella 2, and Edonkey2000 at the same time, with interoperability.

I used Limewire for awhile. I got so many trojans and adware that I uninstalled it.

I actually am, I think. I'm using Azureus
and I see that there are a couple of Shareaza
peers.

BTW, I took your prior advice and copied down
the 99.4% file. I was able to play it and seek
though it. I'm not chomping at the bit to watch
this so I'll give it some more time to pick up
the rest, but it's good to know for the future
that a partial AVI will play.

Post the torrent link or PM it to me.

I can try to see if I can reach a seeder to finish it up.

That's happened to me before, but not very often.  One time I had a 4.5 GB download halted with 3 MB left to go.  That sucked.  Left it running 3 days before a seed connected, and my download finished.  but I wasn't going to lose that 4.497 GB.

I hate it when that happens!

I started downloading a movie about a week ago (I use Azureus), and it just finished last night.  I'd see peers in the Swarm tab, but wouldn't connect to them, so I couldn't get much from them.  It was slow as balls.

So anyway, I signed up for Netflix, and I'll be putting my DVD burner to good use :)
