I haven't been shooting in quite some time (almost a year).  Finally got a free moment, and headed to the range.  Man it was fun.  I forgot how much I like shooting.  The zen-like concentration.  The feeling of being in the zone, when you can see the front sight in almost slow-motion as it snaps back on target.

Shots were from low-ready, brought up on target and fired as quickly as I could gain the sight picture, which was very quickly.  A couple double taps here and there.  This is like 3 magazines (17 rounders).

I'm mostly excited just because I was able to finally go to the range.

If I ever have to get shot, I'll let you do it. That way I'll know it won't hurt.

How well do you shoot at 25 yd?

not bad for 5 yards

That's 15 yards.

At 25 yards they open up a bit, but still shoot better than any 1911 shooters around.

Prove me wrong.

You have nothing on my 1911s.

I have seen quality 1911's shoot clover leafed groups at 15yd if the right person is shooting em. All over the paper grouping like that is almost unheard of with a 1911, even with a novice shooter behind the pistol.

I hate your gun, but I have to admit that you did pretty well.

I shoot every weekend and you probably do better than me fast shooting. I think I might be able to beat you if we both shot at a slow steady rate of perhaps one round a second. GJ if that was a mag dump though. My groups look like that at 15 feet with a mag dump of 14 rounds of .40 S&W.

Now you gotta go for backing up a bit. Add 5-10 yards and go from there. Seems like you've got 15 yards down.

Try farther out and some reactionary targets.
Tennis balls, NOT bowling balls
Blocks of wood.
See how fast you canwalk them up to the berm.

Funny the flack you get for shooting effectivly.

Good job.

I shoot get a pie plate sized target with every round at 100 meters, and, I'm fairly proud of that based on some classes  My spread would surely send some her einto convulsions and have them scream about thier X inch group and X range....

Boy, can't hear enough about that.

BG gets hit a 100 meters, that's ok.  I'll hit him at 300 too.  I'm not a stone cold killer like some.

I suck at pistol, so I think that's pretty good.

Not bad, especially for not shooting for a year. What happened? If there are a few rounds out of the black it means you were pushing your personal envelope with regards to speed and accuracy. Its great to see that. Some people don't understand that you weren't target shooting, yuo were firing quickly from a low ready. If you have a small little group you should try shooting faster. Good training means pushing that envelope. Good Job!

3 mags.  no jams.

vs.

7mags 1911 style (clearing jams every other round).

I remember seeing those hit low.  I think I was dipping the muzzle down to "fight" muzzle climb.  I also remember seeing the front sight sink below the rear sight and squeezing the trigger a tad too early to get it all straightened out.  The weird thing is, I was seeing this "matrix" style, or in pseudo slow motion.  It was happening very quickly but I just had the mojo going for me.  Anyway, thanks for the compliment.

Damn. I need to find a range that allows rapid fire. Anyone know of one in SoCal?

A friend this last Sunday, brought his new Glock 17 out to my range.

I couldn't hit a damn thing with it.

I had to redeem myself with my S&W .44 just to make sure I still had a penis.
