Goddam ATT cable was out for the last four days, plus out the previous weekend. They have the WORST customer service. Everytime you call it is minimum 45 minutes on hold all they while they give a recorded message saying to use their web support which you can't cause service is down. [:(!] FOUR DAYS. Bastards.

Anyhew, being without internet and email for four days was actually kinda stressful. So I got to thinking which I could live without.

For me it would be the internet. My love affair with TV is just too long and dear.
Teacher, mother, secret lover....

What about you guys. If you had to go without, which would it be?

I already live without TV. No broadcast or cable, though the VCR works when I want to watch Hunt for Red October.

Internet is my source of choice for both news, information, and entertainment. Too bad i don't have a life...[:/]

Well as I sit here in my easychair watching the bigscreen with my laptop on my lap. I would probably shit without them - luckily I have a toilet paper dispenser at half an arms length.

Ether one. Just spent a week in Honduras. Not much of a choice in TV. Skipped it for the week. Never felt better.

Internet down there was actually more prevelant than TV. But I didn't feel like spend any Limpera. Again never felt better.

I actually did things, go for walks, try to converse with the locals (hard when one doesn't speak spanish). But I did smoke twice as much as I usually do. Go figure.

But... if no TV or Internet. I would have to have a radio!!

I've pretty much given up on TV, but I don't have cable. Good thing too. When I'm stuck in hotel rooms, traveling for work, I realize I could waste my life away watching documentaries on TLC etc.

T.V. - I only watch South Park, DBZ, WWF and the O'Reilly Factor (didn't expect that one did you). So overall, the television gets about 10 or so hours a week of my time.

Internet - programming, AR15.com, and Instant Messenger get 10 hours [b]A DAY[/b]!

You make the call which one I use more. I'm a tried and true Gen-X guy, with the exception of no piercings, liberal attitudes, or lack of firearms [:)]

Hmmmm...live without CNN (Communist Network News) and other socialist Media outlets or live without the Internet where I actually have a CHOICE in where I get my news from filtered or unfiltered...

Tough decision..I guess I will keep the internet..at the very least..I can visit porno sights..[}:D]

Ratters, I believe AT&T owes you a refund for those hours the cable was down. At least they do it for TV.

I would be difficult to lose either, but given the choice I would rather lose the TV. I can always download or rent the porn I need. he he

Yeah, the refund thing is in the works. Freakin bastards. During most of the outage the phone just tells you that there are service interuptions in my area and that service will be restored in 2 hours (meaning four days) and then hangs up on you. No chance to talk to anyone.

As much as I love and use the web, I don't think I could live without the Simpsons every day.

I'm in the same boat as Juggernaut, no cable,zero reception of local T.V. The vcr works for my favs on tape, that's about how I watch movies these days, wait for them to be released on vhs. So I guess I could easily live without T.V. broadcasts,why do you think I'm on here so much.

Im have already given up on TV. I can't wait to test pattern my 870 on that big screen when she goes. I don't know what to use, #4s or 7 1/2s? I gots to have one for the Mrs.and the CHILDREN though.

TV's been gone from our home since before our oldest child (9 yrs) arrived. Got a VCR attached to a 19" color set, but no antenna, cable or dish. If the weather looks bad we have rabbit ears somewhere. My kids are worth it.

I'd rather have Internet. TV does too much spoon feeding and does not allow interaction. Our exposure to world events would be limited to what the media chooses for us.

I can do without TV. Nothing you can't get on the internet. I just watch eveneing TV news for the laughs and giggles everyonce in a while. Though I would miss some of the documentaries and travelogs on PBS stations.

The TV would have to go. I already get most of my news from the net, and really don't watch TV that much. All info that I need can come from the net. Plus, AR15.com is not on TV!!

I could easily live without television... granted I'd miss my morning cartoons but most of those are reruns anyway. [:(]

I have elected not to have cable for 7 years now.. I use rabbit ears and if the cat sleeps on the top of the t.v. I get an extra 3 channels! [:)]

But seriously... I would rather spend time outside or even "talking" with friends on the internet than sit in front of the boob tube any day...

My wife and I got sick of dealing with our cable company years ago. The quality of the audio and video was terrible and even if it did come in good who wants to watch that stuff? We were spending over $60 a month so that we could watch Discovery during dinner.

We have a great home theater system, good VCR and DVD players, and a large movie collection. When we feel like watching something we grab what _we_ want to watch off the shelf and watch it. No commercials. No mind numbing sit-coms. Life is good.

There are only two downsides:

1. All the idiot coworkers who can't get it through their deadened-by-TV skulls that "no, I didn't see that episode of Seinfeld where..."

2. We have to go out to a sports bar to watch hockey.

i grew up without cable, color TV, VCR or computer. when i moved out on my own, i tried to make up for lost stimuli by getting a big-screen, every cable channel known, and 2 VCR's. i found that the only channels i could stand were History, TLC and Discovery. (i also watch Simpsons and South Park religiously) it wasn't until i got into AR15.com, that i realized what i was really missing out on - interaction. i almost never watch TV anymore, as i am glued to this site! also, nobody responds when i yell at the tube! so, i can live without TV, but not the Net.

I could do without the boob tube. About the only use that I get out of it is Discovery, TLC, A&E, History Channel, and nightly news. Around half of the crap I keep programmed off of my set (Univision, MTV, CSPAN, Arts, local access, etc.). I hear you on the lousy service though. Last fall, Cox Cable took over Multimedia Cable. Every other day the service was down (I also get my internet access from them). Talked to a friend of mine in PA; he has Cox and it's the same deal there, too. I found out it doesn't matter how much or to whom you bitch, nothing happens.......unless you start demanding credit for lost service. They don't understand anything until it starts costing them money. I received $18 in credit on my internet access one month due to interruptions (the service is $30/month). No use in paying for something that you don't receive. Unlike electricity, where you pay for your actaul usage, cable is billed for the whole month, whether it's used or not. At any rate, I haven't had any service outages in several months.

With a fast enough connection, Internet becomes a tv...

through college, I was too cheap to pay for cable and phone. So I used my computer to dial up into the school's network, and I listed to AM radio. We got one channel, Fox, and I didn't feel like I was missing anything.
