The Tally Thread: Slow boiling pot or plain Paranoia?

A lot of folks seem to feel things are getting worse for the average citizen. But are they really?  I would like to start a thread where people can post positive and negative items that have impacted American society as a running tally.  

Please only post an item once and rate it as positive or negative.

For example;

Imminent Domain Decision – Negative
The Firearm manufacturers’ liability bill – Positive

And so on and so forth.

So the Tally Is:

Positive: 1
Negative: 1

More members placing private bedroom BOTD shots of their wives/girlfriends onto pic hosting sites instead of their own, easy to hack, private websites = -1

So the Tally Is:

Positive: 2
Negative: 2
