It sure looks illegal to me.  I don't think there is a "length" issue for a shoulder stock (maybe he woudl try to argue that this one is too short to be a "real" stock? )

The guy clearly has NO clue (or is lying) about laws, as far as I can tell.

He also says that lots of people are adding front grips to their pistols, and that states are responding by making it illegal!    Putting a front grip makes it an AOW, and has been illegal at the federal level for a long time.

Putting a stock on a pistol makes it an NFA item, doesn't it?

no,
unless the barrel of the pistol is at least 16 inches in length (and the overall length of the firearm with stock attached is at least 26 inches). However, certain stocked handguns, such as original semiautomatic Mauser "Broomhandles" and Lugers, have been removed from the purview of the NFA as collectors' items. [27 CFR 179.11]

Yep, curios like my Broomhandle, Lugars & even some Nazi issued Hi-Powers are legal.

And I have also seen 1911 stock kits for sale. To install the stock, the 16" barrel must already be mounted.

That stock looks short to me. I'm betting the gun is airsoft.
