From what I know of them, which isn't too much, thats probably a good price. They are uber rare and gas piston I think?
I doubt I'll be buying one soon though. |

Leitner-Wise makes one for $900 AND it is superior to Hk! Lighter and fewer parts. |

I dont know...in the world of the H&K collector, this is indeed a rare piece and may be worth the price. Not to me...but some H&K collectors will pay $1250 for a single drum magazine, so this aint all that crazy.

Yeah I'll pass.
Not because it is too much money and not because I think it sucks. I actually WANT a piston HK M4. I think it would be really cool. But if I can't have the rifle through direct channels I don't want it. If and when HK produces a domestic semi civilian or LE version THEN I will buy one. |

Relax, HK plans to sell them to the public (though how the ATF parts ban will effect this is unknown.)
Shot a 10.5" HK416 this weekend... Pretty neat upper, clean too. |

Not saying that a rail system is worth an additional $900. But at least the HK has that going for it. I suppose something in line with MRP pricing wouldn't be so bad. I could see paying $1200 for an upper like that. But I agree that $1800 is overpriced. It does look sweet though!  |

The real name (before the change) was Pakistani Ordinance Factory (now changed to "Patriot" Ordinance Factory) because they imported Pakistani made HK parts. However the piston upper is made here (as far as I know, bringing AR parts from Pakistan to the US would seem sort of dumb). |
