Why did Carter take so much heat for Gas Prices and not Bush?


I was only like eight years old then but it seems like Carter was getting ripped right and left over Gas prices. Is my childhood memory playing tricks on me or was that how it was?

The correct answer is because unlike gas prices today, the price control policies of Carter and Nixon caused gas shortages.  Most of the DUmmies are too ignorant to know that, and blame it on

Yeah inflation was out of control.  In college, my economics professor brought in a pamphlet from the Carter administration.  It was a citizen's guide to inflation, and how we can fight it.  My professor got spitting mad reading it aloud to us, because not only was everything in it flat wrong, it blamed average citizens for inflation and demanded they change their consumer habits in order to serve the greater good.

(Him reading the pamplet to us):

"'The causes of inflation are many and varied.'  What utter bullshit!  What the hell are they talking about?  There's one cause of inflation!  One! Oh, get a load of this, you'll love this...."

I remember Carter's take on the energy crisis: price controls which casued high prices and shortages, and Carter wearing a sweater in the white house and telling us how his wife cried because it was so cold.  

Carter=the biggest joke of a president in the last 100 years.

Actually, Jimmy Carter’s administration did have one redeeming virtue.

It was so incredibly inept that it virtually guaranteed the election of Ronald Regan in 1980.
