For years my dad has believed that virtually everything that goes on in this world does so because of the Tri-Lateral Commission (TLC) and Council on Foriegn Relations (CFR).

He believes that Republicans and Democrats are both controlled by the TLC, and that the bickering between the two parties is just a distraction to hide the truth.

The TLC and CFR combined with the UN's ultimate goal is to usher in a One World Government, or "New World Order" if you will.

Now, I just can't buy all of this.  Yes, I believe that there are evil forces in the world trying to undermine American soverignty, especially the U.N.  But I just don't believe that there is one organization whom all of our elected representatives are carrying out the will of.

Whats your thoughts on this?

If the New WOrld Order is so smart and powerful then why haven't they taken over the world yet?

Seams to me that having a bunch of small countries running around serperately is a bad way to run a business.

His answer to this is that there are still many non-western nations that resist being a part of the New World Order.  These countries are mostly in the Middle East and Africa.  He claims thats why we have so many military confrontations with these rogue nations, it's to make them conform.

And provide motives for other activities and incursions.
I don't necessarily buy into all of it but they could accomplish more by maintaining an illusion of status quo and using 3rd world nations to do some of their dirty work.

An easily-digested explanation of complex trends and events, repackaged for those incapable or unwilling to  comprehend something a little more complicated.

Things are so so much easier when we are just all victims.  The fact this monolith is known to be controlling things also makes it very easy to do nothing, sit back, and bitch.

Or do nothing, sit back, finger your firearms, bitch, and talk about what they'd do when it all comes down and the S and the F get together.

I'm guessing you meant the CFR, or Council on Foreign Relations? Like many conservatives, I spent my obligatory time examining the conspiracy theories and plenty of their offshoots. While much of what their members have to say will make you a bit uncomfortable, I've come to the point where I have a real hard time believing that the global conpiracy exists. For me, it kind of falls into that category of "The Secret That's Too Big to Keep," i.e. evenutally someone would let the cat out of the bag.

Beyond the big secret is examining just who this theory depends upon to make it work. The United Nations? While I detest them as an organization, you'd be hard pressed to find a more inept group when it comes to succeeding at anything. Of course, absolute corruption from head to toe will do that sometimes. It's kind of hard to get anyone to work with you when all the major players are trying to line their own pockets. Ask yourself, can you name one thing the UN has gotten right in the past 30-40 years?

I've heard Rush Limbaugh give what I thought was as good an explanation as anyone, in dealing with the New World Order conspiracy. He maintains that for so many Americans, the kind that go to work each day, obey the law, pay their taxes, and hold family, God, and country so dear, it's hard to reconcile why so many people like themselves get the short end of the stick so often. It becomes far easier to accept that there are "forces" at work behind the scenes that stack the deck against them and undermine all that they do, thereby assuring they can never really get ahead by playing by the rules. Enter the TLC/CFR bogeymen, as the invisible power that will always hold them back.

I think a little dose of paranoia is a healthy thing, but most of the folks that really buy into the NWO waste far too much time and energy looking for UN blue helmets around every corner, and under every rock (The John Birch Society, comes to mind). I'm always ready to be proven wrong should more compelling information present itself, but until then I won't lose much sleep over what the Rockefellers, Zbigniew Brezinski, and others are discussing at the Hotel Bilderberger.

I stand corrected.  Thanks for clearing this up.

There is no conspiracy.  To have a conspiracy, it has to be kept SECRET.  The people in the TLC and the CFR make no secret whatsoever about their desire to unite the world as one market and eventually one government.  They don't consider this a nefarious scheme that has to be kept under wraps, they consider it a noble end for which they are willing to contribute their time and money.
I don't agree with their ends, and I think some of them are very dangerous, but this isn't a Tom Clancy thriller...in the real world, even dangerous people don't think of themselves as supervillains.

Do you believe either group has much sway over our elected officials?

Over some elected officials, yes...but they have MUCH more sway over non-elected ones.  Almost every Secretary of State we've ever had, with the possible exception of Condoleeza Rice, has been a devotee of the philosophy favored by the CFR and TLC.  Many of our embassadors as well.  Their way of thinking holds tremendous sway among our diplomats in the foreign service.

You can call it anything you want but the direction this poor country is heading is no accident.  Just look at the rights we lose without so much as a whimper every day, month and year. Private property rights disappeared in GA in the 60s.  For the rest of the country tobacco legislation finished it off.  First amendment rights....McCain the evil Viet Nam survivor and Feingold put the finishing touches on that.  50+ million idiots in this country voted for  Kerry.  Can we survive such idiocy and lack of understanding of why our founders gave everything for our freedoms just so we could blow it??

JFK was a radical conservative compared to today's typical Republican.  The SCOTUS is totally out of control.  So is spending. The Bush ad. refuses to do anything meaningful  about illegal immigration and takes the PC route when it comes to profiling terrorist.  The typical American believes virtually everything the major media and Hollywood put on the table.  Hell even our sports writers and networks like FSN and ESPN are 100% PC.

Maybe it's just coincidence that so many people are working so hard to destroy our country.

I for one don't disagree with what you're saying, but are all those things evidence of a global conspiracy, or just the products a fat, dumb, and lazy American electorate? Too many frogs in our country that really don't object if you heat their water just a little bit more, if you get my drift.

As communication technology advances the whole world gets smaller.  The internet is a really good example of this as it brings easy global communication down to the common denominator of the populace.  Yeah, there was Ham Radio prior to the internet, but the internet makes it just so much more convienient.

Let's face it, a one world government under such a small, easily communicating populace IS going to happen.  I don't see it as anything but inevitable.  Nations will give up their sovereignty due to outright force, political pressure, or a just plain efficiency arguement.

It IS going to happen and I don't see it as such a horrifiic thing.  I'd like to see our planet get along with each other as well as we all do in the U.S.A....which admittedly isn't that great.  We still have a lot of animosity among some individuals over the Civil War.  The differences of legalities from one state to another quite frankly disgusts me and wishes for a more powerful, though benign, central government.  I have a CCW license in my state...though if I drive 13 miles north carrying a weapon I am suddenly a felon.  That is just plain wrong.

Globalism IS coming.  There is NO WAY to stop it.  IT WILL be the will of the masses.

I just hope "the rules" get written correctly.

See, here's one of the "snakes in the woodpile" of the Global Domination/New World Order conspiracy: no one told the Islamo fascists where they fit in. I think at this point, it's pretty hard to believe they'll come around to the NWO way of thinking. I can see where someone may posit that they fit in with the scheme to help control the flow of oil, but do any of you really think they can be controlled by anyone in the West? How is it possible for them to get a seat at the table?

Well, there is in place here in the good ol USA a shadow Government. If a SHTF situation or terrorist attack  happened and our "elected" officials were all taken out, the FEDS have an underground un-elected government ready to take control when the smoke clears.

It IS a horrible thing though, because the people who want to "unite" the world under one-world government are socialists. If you think taxes are high now, just wait until you have to work to subsidize the entire world, rather than just small portions of it.

And with the way gun rights are being snatched away by governments around the globe, there is NO WAY that the tools to end tyranny and oppression will be available to us under global government.
