From the FOXNews.com story about the (no longer) missing Philadelphia woman:

Stephen Pouche, the father of Figueroa's unborn daughter, was wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a 45-calibur gun when he was arrested, FOX News has learned.

That should be .45 and caliber.

Before you admonish me for being petty...

Granted, the errors I pointed out are minor, but please consider the fact that we can identify them because we are familiar with the topic (firearms) the writer is addressing -- which leads me to ask:  Why should we trust anything this, or any other reporter, says about any subject?  He is attempting to inform others of something he obviously has no understanding of.  Ordinarily, I attribute media misrepresentation of firearms to the reporter's/network's political leaning, but maybe they're just so incompetent that their ability to report accurately is entirely based on chance.  So, whether the subject is global warming, politics, economics, etc., there is no reason to put stock in anything they say.  This is something I've been aware of for some years, but, sadly, it seems that most of America looks to the talking heads of the media as gospel-speaking saints, and never question a word of what they say.
