[ARCHIVED THREAD] - ANYONE seen the movie "The Great Raid"?????

I need a quick responce because were leaving in about 30 minutes to the movies and I was wondering about this movie. I've heard that it tells the story of how a small group of U.S. Ranger go on a rescue mission aginst the Japanese in WWII Manila prision camp. It shows the combinded efforts of the Americans and Filipinos against the Japanese.

I thought it was very good, didn't like the ending but it was based on a true story so I guess it had to end the way it did. Could have used less set up of the characters and more combat/mission scenes.

Did they show the Japanese getting cut open by machetes by Filipino fighters? That's how they got so close to the wire.
