I couldn't get an article to link that showed the sordid history of this guy's manipulation of the justice system, which turns out to be easily manipulated.

His original crime, burglary with added circumstances of carrying a firearm would carry a max sentence of 7 years.  The judge let him off with one year which made him eligible for serving his time in a private jail.  Normally the private jail would not have taken him with the firearm violation on the record BUT it was left off somehow.  In private jail he was not properly supervised and although he claimed to have a job, THERE WAS NEVER ANY EVIDENCE OF ANY WORK RECORD.  Then he appealed to work from home because of his JOB and it was granted.  Who he was working for and where was never mentioned in his official request to the court and no one apparently checked.  He served 214 evenings of detention, checking out each morning and returning at night.  The jail was administered by Correctional Systems Inc. a private jail management system.  They were supposed to check up on the inmates employment.  It seems fairly certain that Alonso Machain, an employee of CSI was a co-conspirator as he ended up on the yacht for those murders.

Anyway, this guy is responsible for 3 murders, one while he was in jail, where he slit the throat of a guy he was stealing money from.  The other murders involved a yacht "purchase" where he and two others forced a couple to sign a bill of sale to their yacht and then pushed the people over tied to anchors.

After talking with a former prison guard from Ferguson I have no doubt.
