I mostly wear MENS Wrangler blue jeans. Well I needed some nice khaki dress pants. So I go to the mall thinking it would have the best selection. I get there and EVERY pair from EVERY store fit me like a pair of freaking parachute pants! I end up having to buy my pants from the kids section!!! Has America become so fat, that the standard size is husky! Or am I just a skinny bastard?
Is all of America fat???
No just a good majority of AFRCOMers are. |
lately, it seems like at least one out of every 3 people i see is so fat that they can't move their legs. they have to waddle around. i don't know why people do that to themselves
they are everywhere... but...but...its not their fault. its mcdonalds fault for them getting fat cuz their advertising and food is so good... last time i checked...i could control what i ate and didnt eat...but maybe im just special |
No kidding...ive noticed the same thing. I think America is going to get like that skit on Blue Collar Comedy. The one were the daughter of that huge fat family brings home a skinney boyfriend and the family thinks hes weird because hes skinney. My theory is that mostly hard working guys buy Wranglers...so they stay the same size. But the standard size for other brands of pants keeps getting beigger and bigger because the rest of America sits on their ass all day. |
I resemble that remark. |
Unless you are Pee Wee Herman you should have no problem finding your size in the Mens department if you simply LOOK for your size.
I did. I tried on every pair that was my size.....every pair fit like parachute pants. |
Maybe the way kids prefer wearing their pants loose these days has affected the standard sizes.
I think you are running into a fashion thing not a size thing, baggy is whats in and thats what the stores are gonna sell.if you are use to wearing straight leg paints like wranglers anything but a straight leg is gonna seem kinda big.
What cut did you try on? Regular, in your size, should fit you normally. If you tried on Loose, relaxed, or BAGGY, you might get different results.
What size do you wear? [Also, most dress pants have some kind of pleated top, so that they fold over pieces to make the waist tighter, but the legs still have more room, it's the current style in dress pant wear I guess. Look for a different type of business pantsm or even suit pants (they have more styles of cuts).] |
Go to a store that has dockers.they make some nice khaki dress pants that are cut alot like what you are use to wearing.Just bought some the other day.
That gave me the funniest mental picture. |
Every pair I tried was regular cut. I looked from slim cut....but I guess that size doesnt exist. I wear around 30,31-33 depending on the brand etc. |
Weird. Try women's pants. |
i know exactly what you mean. i wear 32x34 pants and its a bitch finding them.
people always say my definition of 'fat' is very strict b/c many ppl these days are beyond my cutoff (mainly talking about female selection here) - at which point i kindly remind them that the definition for % overweight and obesity hasnt changed, people are just fatter. just becuase more people are fat, doesnt mean that there is a new 'standard' chunky floppy body parts make me sick. |
No kidding. Most of the sizes they had were in the 45-30 range. |
What are you like 6'5''? |
some states are fatter than others.....you happen to be in the 12th fattest state.
24.6% fat Alabama 28.4 1 Mississippi 28.1 2 West Virginia 27.7 3 Indiana 26.0 4 Kentucky 25.6 5 Arkansas 25.2 6 Georgia 25.2 Michigan 25.2 Tennessee 25.0 9 Ohio 24.9 10 Louisiana 24.8 11 Texas 24.6 12 South Carolina 24.5 13 Oklahoma 24.4 14 North Carolina 24.0 15 Delaware 24.0 Iowa 23.9 17 Nebraska 23.9 Pennsylvania 23.8 19 North Dakota 23.7 20 Missouri 23.6 21 Alaska 23.5 22 California 23.2 23 Illinois 23.2 Minnesota 23.0 25 South Dakota 22.9 26 Kansas 22.6 27 Maryland 21.9 28 Idaho 21.8 29 Virginia 21.7 30 Washington 21.7 Oregon 21.5 32 Nevada 21.2 33 New York 20.9 34 Wisconsin 20.9 Utah 20.8 36 District of Columbia 20.3 37 New Hampshire 20.2 38 New Mexico 20.2 Arizona 20.1 40 New Jersey 20.1 Wyoming 20.1 Florida 19.9 43 Maine 19.9 Vermont 19.6 45 Connecticut 19.0 46 Montana 18.8 47 Rhode Island 18.4 48 Massachusetts 16.8 49 Hawaii 16.4 50 Colorado 16.0 51 |

The Dockers brand is a Levi brand. They have closed many U.S. plants, maybe 20 of 'em, & shipped all of the work to Sri Lanka, China, etc. They are headquartered in San Francisco & are rabidly anti-gun. I will not buy anything from them any more, preferably only Carhartts.
Its common knowledge in the textiles industry that brands that cater to Middle America (GAP, Banana Republic, Old Navy, etc.) cut their clothes bigger to accomodate overweight Americans. What used to be 34" pants are now closer to 36" even though the label still says 34"

Penguins waddle for hundreds of miles. |

Wow...MA is only fatter than CO and HI...
And Epsilon? Thank goodness you're not a female with slim hips. Nothing fits me. |
Yes. Because the prostitute who approached me in Shanghai last week told me so. Really. |
I thought wranglers were for ghey men. The W's on the pocket mean when and where.
I'm anything but fat.
Pant size is 32x32. Thin, sure, but I'm in shape too. |
Ya I thought so. The size 30 waists in the stores fit me too big....so I asked if they had a smaller size and they said thats the smallest they get without getting into kid sizes. But a pair of 30-33 Wranglers fit me perfect |

My son is a sophmore in hing school here. Now they only require 2 years of P.E. So instead of letting him take PE this year, they made him take a required course in its place. The course is "fashion design". I guess that's so he can cover his fat ass in style. I'll leave the rant of the required high school courses for later... Fullclip

I know what you mean too. I wear a size 30 (up until 2 years ago it was size 28, even harder to find). I stopped shopping for pants in stores. Mail order is your friend. LL Bean is a good supplier with plenty of slimmer sizes. |
+1, I will not buy anything Dockers or Levis. It's not like there are no other places to buy jeans (Gap) or pants (LL Bean). |
Try finding 32X36 in any clothes .I am 6'3 and 165 and never can find pants that fit right .I use to wear 29x36 from 7th grade till I was 22.Really 31 fit better until I started to carry iwbh
32x38's for me. Impossible. I generally have to settle for 34x36. |
I don't see a problem. The sizes are clearly listed and put in sections in most places. They are clearly marked for waist and length and are listen by inches, a unit(I would hope) we are all familiar with.
I myself prefer 34x34(yes, I'm "square") loose. Loose because the comfort. I've noticed they put no slack whatsoever in the crotch area of regulars, and whenever you move or sit the area gets tighter. Gotta have circulation in that region! |
I noticed that too, I just recently started wearing 34x32s...and the crotch area is pretty small, can't wait to lose another 15 lbs and jump into 32s. |
One of the few advantages of living in the north east (im in mass now) is far fewer fat people. I get grossed out every time i go to the midwest or south. So many fat people. No offense if you are from these regions and skinny, its not your fault other people have terrible lifestyles.
You think you are grossed out? You should hear what we think of you. |
Its a trade-off. I live in a socialist hell-hole where the AWB never died.....BUT at least there aren't as many fat people. Time to move to CO.
You musta gained about 50lbs then! |

last night, I'm watching some lard ass wheeze his way down the aisle at home depot...midly amusing until he drops a small box on the floor. He's so fat, he can't bend over to pick it up without his massive belly fat pulling him off balance. Too damn funny. This caricature of a human can't even bend over to pick up something without falling over. |

Does this gun make my ass look fat? |

Heck, I'm morbidly obese. 5-11 and 148 lbs, haaaayul, I'm gonna die of Cardiac arrest.
