don't know what suprised me more,that nikes are made in vietnam or i found
some shoes made here in the usa.anyway i went out to buy some new crosstrainers
since my old ones are falling apart.went to academy and was checkin out some nikes
and look at the tag and they are made in freakin vietnam.it's bad enough most the stuff is
made in china,now we gotta support vietnam too after all the grief they caused this
country.they had some new balance shoes on sale so i checked them out and they got a made in the usa tag on them.they felt pretty good so went ahead and bought them.had some new
balance running shoes when i was in the army many moons ago and they were good shoes.
didnt even know they made any shoes in the usa anymore.won't be buying any more nikes.

rm1bow: where have you been in the past 10-20 years. 99% of the shoes are made abroad in the PRC or SE Asia.

I think the last Nike not made in Vietnam was made with a waffle iron.

yea, i know pretty shallow and not very pc of me.it just kinda pissed me off.

Several months ago a Brass Pro Shop opened up not that far from me.

Of five shirts that I picked out, none of them were made in America, and one of them was made in Viet Nam.

I didn’t buy any of them.

In spite of all the left wing media reports of how hostile China, Vietnam and all the other enlightened countries that embrace socialism and communism are toward the Evuuul Capitalist West the fact of the matter is if China and their allies attack Thaiwan or the USA or any of it's allies, they'd better have a big fucking war chest because once the USA stops buying their products their economies such as they are will collapse in a matter of weeks.

Not so long ago I was at Just for Feet looking for some new shoes as well.  I, being the observant type noticed that all the shoes on display were made in China, Vietnam or some other Indonesian country.  I asked the sales person if there were any sneakers, (I'm 43 and I still call them sneakers instead of running, crosstraining, walking, long distance shoes, this has caused a great amount of confusion amongst the sales staff on a number of occasions) made in the USA.  

He (the salesman that is) brought out a pair of New Balance sneakers made in the USA.  Talk about sticker shock $237 for a pair of sneakers.  I don't think so.

Unions for a very short period of time in US history served a purpose but after they established a reasonable work day, a reasonable wage and reasonably safe work environment among other things, the Unions themselves went on to drive industries out of the USA with their ever increasing demands.

Finally, I don't usually pick nits about things like grammar and puncuation but your post is so filled with an apparent ignorance of both that I can't pass up the opportunity of offering a few pointers.

I'm not sure what part of Texas you are from but most of the Texan's, indeed most of the people I know adhere to some very basic rules in regards to writing things like sentences.

The first letter in a sentance is capitalized.  If you insert a comma "," it is usually followed by a blank space.  Periods "." at the end of a sentence are usually followed by two blank spaces.  When you refer to the name of a country or a brand name the first letter is capitalized for example Nike as apposed to nike or Vietnam as apposed to vietnam.

When you start a sentenced in first person tense you start it with "I don't" not "dont" or "I went" instead of "went".

Soon you will see that manufacturing will be shifting away from China. Most of the manufacturing will be moving to Africa and some surrounding Asian countries. You will see more comming from Nam, India and when the ME cools off you will see more from there as well. Pakistan is already the largest supplier of leather goods to the USA. Take a look at your favorite jacket most likely it is from Pakistan or china. As China has grown so has its workers. People are starting to make money there. Unions are forming and workers are demanding more that a bowl of rice for a days work. The DMV there has been issuing more than 30,000 drivers licences per month. They are adding so many cars that there is a six month wait for a licence plate. This growth has raised export prices over 150% over the last 4 years. This will leave the door wide open for competing countries with a small economy to step in and take Chinas place.
You would be surprised if you knew where half of the things you buy were made. That includes the food you eat. Just because something you bought sais made in "wherever" on it does not mean it was made there. That just means it was partialy made there and exported from there. If you buy something that was made in USA it could have been made in China and packaged here.

At work, I realized that my entire uniform was made in China, most of the food came from California or Mexico, and all of the dishes, containers, utensils, etc. came from France.

When my U.S. Army boony hat turned out to be from China, I about threw a fit.

$39,they were reg $69.and i don't remember were my old running shoes were made.

When buying from Vietnam, try to buy stuff made in the South.  They were and still are our friends.

Hanoi tries hard to force companies to build factories in the North but the people in the South are more productive and lots of factories have been built down there.

I've always had better luck with New Balance than Nikes anyhow. Maybe it's just my personal preferences, but the NBs always felt a lot more comfortable.
