it seems as though many on this site have all of the cool toys. i see sbr this full auto that. a huge safe with thousands of dollars in guns. is everyone rich here? a home is usually the largest purchase we make. if we rent we have more cash to spend on stuff we want. are most of us going into debt to get what we want? so my question is do you own or rent your home?

Thank you.

I had started a long rant, but then just closed the window in frustration.

You've summed it up nicely!

^^^  The only people that 'own' anything are the banks and the gov't.  I pay rent to both of them (mortgage + property taxes).

I own.

In my area, apples to apples, apartments and homes carry about the same monthly payment.

Some folks just have trouble coming up with the money down and other fees, I suppose.

Own? Well not really, I have to pay the property tax and get to live there, but the bank won't let me have it for 18 more years.

The bank still owns most of it.  but we're buying it...one square foot at a time.  I think we own the front porch now.

The wife and I still rent.  We have almost $10,000 saved for a down payment on a condo.  I really don't want a yard.

I was a lawn maintenance landscape foreman for 12 years and I've had my fill of yard work.
