Does anyone remember the old Cold War joke about the horse race between the United States and the Soviet Union? The US horse won the race, and Izvestia reported it: "In a major race in which the Unites States and the Soviet Union participated, the Soviet Union's horse came in a close second while the horse from the United States finished 2nd from last!".

Actually the joke was about racing cars and not horses.
