Dig the old timey stars and bars on the Harriers....just like on the planes the Battle of Midway and before...the red dot in the center. Guess we don't have to worry about them being mistaken for a "meatball" now....

ETA...okay...no bars, just stars...

Wow, I spent some time on USS Juneau back in DS 1991. Decent chow IIRC. Also, Thailand looks very similar to Olangapo city in the PI. I never did any of that stuff though.

Cool pic of the charge 8 red bag in action.  Can I save that pic and use it in a class?  I'm an FO and I sometimes get stuck giving a "call for  fire" class to non-FOs, the pic would go well with the part of the class where I talk about the basic capabilities and attributes of arty.

If your teaching someone to use Artillery.  Use it whenever you want.  Just make sure they know it's drop 5-0 FFE.  Not Fifty.

It was a TOW from a Cobra.  The turret was in the canal about 50 yards in front of the vehicle.  There was a boot in the debris behind the vehicle.  His foot was still in it.   That's what he gets for staging near a school.

That's crazy you have a pic of the Harpers Ferry.  I was on that ships maiden voyage on a rimpac in early 1996, then for a westpac in 96-97.  Pretty sure I saw every little nook and cranny in that place.  Got to be small after a while!!

It's the LHD 2.  Sails around with the Harpers Ferry(LSD49) unless they changes things up.  Brings back a truckload of memories just talking about it.  Man do I miss the Corps!!!!!

ETA..Awesome pics!!  Hope your time in was as shitty and as good as mine!!  Some of the shitty times still ended up being the best!!!  Thanks for doing your time.

You know what was really cool about this.  There were eleven other batteries with similar range fans.
