+1 on grisoft.

Also

www.trendmicro.com has a free online scan, after trend micro cleans out the crud, install the Grisoft AVG and keep it updated.

I have run into viruses that disable your current AV, and have used the trendmicro to fix with great success.

Avast has done the job for me. Only thing I don't like is the Metrosexual who tells me, "Virus database has been updated."

It automatically scans on startup and kicks into update mode. Being impatient, it's a pain, but doesn't seem to slow down my computer once everything is updated. It may be possible to set it to update weekly, but I figure I'm better off leaving it alone.

For those that have an AKO(if you don't know what it is, you don't have it) account, there is free Norton/Mcaffee antivirus to download.

AVG is ok.

Thanks guys!

I tried the AVG program the other day, found it on PC World’s web site. For some reason my PC didn’t like it! For example, I was surfing here at ARFCOM and the page would close!

I’m using the avast program right now, seems ok. It did find one infected file off the bat with out being updated. I’m updated now and it seems ok, I did go on line once and my whole PC froze up. Only way to re-boot was to de-power/re-power.

We’ll see how it works, thanks to those who helped out.

To those of you looking for free blow jobs........good luck.

Is that the going rate these days?

AVG is great. Been using it for a couple weeks.

Norton is a resource hog!
