I received a slip in the mail that says there is a certified letter for me at the post office.

The info about the sender was just initials. From the initials I believe that it is from the county.

Now what?

More on this:

About six months ago I received a questionnaire for possible jury duty.  I filled it out and returned it. I haven't heard back from them.

I've never gotten a jury duty letter that was certified.

If it isn't face-to-face, it can safely be ignored.

Make sure all your bills are paid.  I managed to miss a payment on my storage locker, and a few months later I got a certified letter saying "if you haven't made your account current by xxx date, we will auction the contents of xxx storage locker and bill you for blah blah blah".  (I had paid the subsequent months, I had simply been out of town most of the month in question and the payment slipped my mind.)

So I paid up, all was well.  Glad I didn't ignore the certified letter!

Friend of mine at work got a certified letter from the county.  No one has seen him since.

Just kidding.  Actually it was letting him know there was a public hearing about some community project near his house.

A certified letter once came for me from the airport post office.

I let it into my house.  It plugged up my toilet within three days and kicked my dog.

Now I say:  Down!  Down!  Ceritified Mail!  Down!

A subpoena does not have to be face to face 6 years ago a lawyer showed up at my house and requested to speak with me, my parents were over and I was at work It was delivered to them to
hand over to me but it does not have to be given specifically to the recipient.

p.s. I was kinda expecting it just hopeing to avoid it by the "if they dont get ME it doesnt count"
I was wrong not to mention I got a parking ticket while at the court house and no one could clear that up luckily here its only $2.00 so I paid it and never did get my check from the city
for going which wasnt much my neighbor was served a subpoena for the same incident and only got
$18 the money I lost from missing work was over $1200 wtf???

Maybe in Texas, but not everyplace.  Then again in a police state like Texas you have vehicle inspections we free citizens in CA don't have.

I don't know why they sent it certified mail, and I don't know why the return address is the sheriff's department instead of the court, but there you go.
