A friend and I were just discussing our favorite guns and if you could have only one, what would it be?
Fal is my fave. So who else prefers a heavy ass .308 to a light, ergonomic and accurate ar15? |
Did you try and turn it in to ol dirty? |
a couple primer blowouts resulted in some nasty gas cutting on the bolt face, so I need a new bolt and have to reheadspace it. |
Leave here now and take you're foreign, european rifle with you! The only .308/7.62x51 I can justify you having is the American M1A/M14. |
Given the choice, (but they are banned here in Britain) I too would own a FAL, well actually the British L1A1 SLR, a superior FAL! ANdy |
I love the l1a1, the folding rear sight and the folding cocker is the shit. That regular cocking knob pokes me when slung. |
Love them BOTH, just don't let one find out about the other.
Guns. Girls, Cars, Boats - all about the same |
STFU NOOB! 5.56x45mm Hk416 Enhanced Carbine, followed by the XM8, followed by the G36, followed by the MP5, followed by an enormous list of precision rifles and handguns. |
Since I'm in a city, 5.56 mm. If I was in the woods, 7.62 Nato.
1.) 7.62X39 from my AK-47
2.) .308 from my Saiga 3.) 40S&W from my glock 22 and 27 |
+1 on the Yugo Mauser. But now that it's become a caliber question, the best caliber is .30-06. |
Gotta love the Mak pistol (or PP-AK submachine gun if we were allowed to import them, etc.) But if the SHTF, AR-15 all the way. |
The "FAL vs. AR15" has already cost me too much of my life, in sleepless nights and days of indecisiveness.
Thanx for bringing it up again. |
I know you are a .30 cal fan |
Its tough to argue with the raw energy of the .30 |
If I didn't already own my AR15 and AK....I would have gotten an FAL.
Well, that's a lame excuse. "Get |
AR-15. Shot my friend's select fire M-1 on full auto. Muzzle rise was uncontrollable and recoil in general was not conducive to follow up shots. In short, I couldn't hit shit with it.
Select fire full auto M1???? Don't believe we talking about full auto anyway. |
If I only get one I pick a 12 gauge shotgun with interchangeable chokes.
I dunno, .308s are great and all, but if push came to shove I'd reach for an AR every time.
+1 |
If I ever need to use them...I can't use em all. Might as well train with what I have :) |
5.56 here, though if I had an AK/FAL/M1A that might be a different story. My 60gr hollowpoints should do well on bad guys though.

How soon we forget.
.45-70 for definite stopping power. I know, I know. Okay, .308 Colt CAR-15 6520 Colt MKIV .45 ACP |
i don't even own an AR.
but i do own an L1A1 built on an Imbel receiver eta: if you've never picked one up before, they're freaking heavier than they look. |
yeah but that is what makes them such a joy to shoot, not much recoil and they are very easy to hold steady. |
..and it just feels powerful |
