Actually I would not buy one more then a year old. It has only been in that time where they really started to pay attention to detail. Remember tho, check repair prices and replacement part prices before you buy. Some cheap cars are extremely expensive to fix.

My wife's 2000 SF just got traded in with 65,000.
We had not put tires on it, and had only put brakes on last year. It was still running perfectly. BTW, the warranty is 100,000 for the drive train, which is where all the expensive fixes come from. The one thing I never liked, and am not sure if it was this bad to start with, or just wore out, was the suspension. I always felt it was pretty "floppy" for lack of a technical term. |

Thanks for the replies thus far. I'm talking new, not used. Powertrain warranty is 100,000, the rest is 60,000. I can bump that to 100,000 bumper to bumper for $1000. Given that, I still don't want a car that sits in the shop every other week, even if it is under warranty. I just can't afford another Blazer, they're rediculous on price. Of course, my 95 Blazer has 185,000 on it now and still takes me to work every day. Hummm.....$25,000 or $35,000??

then, the frame split, while we were driving it, at just over 100,000, and a few months left to pay  you couldnt pay me to take one YMMV edited to fix info |

I have a 98 Elantra I use to drive to work only, Everything still works fine, Still gets around 30MPG Hwy. All I ever had to do is regular maintainence, Coolant, Oil, Tranny fluid changes, a couple of brake jobs, Timing belt (& all the other belts) at 80Kmiles The AC is still cold as ice.
It has over 110,000 miles on it! I think my next commuter is going to be a 4X4 Tuscon! |
