Dog gets Tasered
08.12.05 - A dog and its owner were both subdued by Sonoma police officers Saturday in front of Steiners Tavern.
At around midnight on Aug. 6, Valley resident Scott Jensen, 27, was shouting threats at people inside Steiners, according to Sonoma police Sgt. Bret Sackett.
When police approached, the suspect jumped in his vehicle and refused to leave his car. When officers opened the door to remove him from the vehicle a dog - of the pit bull variety, according to Sackett - lunged toward a deputy.
In response, officers discharged a Taser into the dog - and when it lunged again they discharged a second Taser. At that time the dog retreated to the rear of the car to stay.
The suspect was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest and being under the influence of what police suspect is methamphetamine.
The dog was treated the following day by a veterinarian.

Pacific Grove Police Shoot, Kill Roaming Pit Bull
POSTED: 4:40 pm PDT August 12, 2005
UPDATED: 4:54 pm PDT August 12, 2005
PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. -- One pit bull was killed and another captured after several calls from a Pacific Grove retirement community that the dogs were acting aggressively toward people.
The dogs were reportedly roaming the area around the Pacific Grove Gold Course, near a retirement mobile home park and the Meals On Wheels headquarters.
Police who responded to the scene said that they set up a perimeter to contain the dogs, but that one of them attempted to leave. That's when police used a Taser to apprehend the dog, but it failed, according to authorities.
The dog was then shot once with a police shotgun, police said in a news release. They said the dog was transported to an area animal hospital but "regrettably passed away."
Police were able to capture the second dog using pole snare.
Police have yet to locate the dogs' owners.
