I have seen so many movies where someone take a terrible beating & then are apperently ok. I know, that's hollyweird. But having never been serously beaten, only marginally beaten, I wondered what is the worst beating ya'll ever had.
I also wonder how badly you would have to be getting beat up to justify using a CCW to protect your self. My sister's boyfriend got beat down by 3 teens in the street infront of her house, & while he was down they put the boots to him breaking his jaw, they were stopped when my neice & sister jumped into the frey & helped chase them away. I told my mom I would have in theat instance started shooting. |
the point of a CCW is to prevent it from escalating to the point of getting your ass kicked or killed.
If I am down on the ground, can't get up, and I'm taking blows, the gun will most likely come out barking.
I got beat so bad one drunken night, when I woke up 13 hrs later my cranium was soft. Had head ache for 3 days. That was 20 yrs ago.

14 against one during my freshman year of high school. I was 6'3" and 260lbs back then, but there were just too many of them. I ended up with a size 15 Nike sneaker bruise on my chest where I was kicked, multiple concussions, and a few lacerations that required stitches to my legs where I was cut by a glass bottle. That's the worst beating I've ever taken.
As for when the gun would come out, it would come out long before I started getting beaten on unless I was caught unaware. As soon as the threat of violence presented itself, the gun would be presented. Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas... |
Indeed. |

My brother tore me a new one when I was 15 or 16 because I did something really bad to him and I really deserved it. He basically whaled on my face with all his strength (he was a varsity wrestler) until he was exhausted and then worked my body with his foot.
I was bleeding real good and had several bruised ribs from it. Ironically, I was getting back at him because I was sick of him beating up on me all the time. He was just playing compared to this. |

You should take the time to learn how to streetfight/box/martial arts, etc. to protect yourself. A firearm should be last resort to stay alive, not in place of formal self defense training. ymmv.
Ohh and I have been hospitalized from beatings as a teen. Tough hood. |
I'd say it would be a tie between several of the beatings I got from the ex...
If I have my firearm on me, there will be no "fighting". I would either walk away from the threat or shoot my way out of the threat. You do NOT want to be trying to pull a pistol when you are already engaged in a hand to hand altercation.

Nothing really useful to add, except a story of my buddies getting beat up on my 22nd b-day.
We were in downtown Austin, and I was barely capable of walking (as Matthew_Q can back me up on, as he was one of the two carrying me to the car). I was so intoxicated that at one point, they got tired of dragging me and insisted on me waiting while somebody brought the car. haha. Anyways....back to my story.... A couple friends were parked at a different area, so they left to go their own way. I found out on Monday, that they had managed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time while walking to their car. Apparently, about 6 or 7 guys decided to jump them and just beat the hell out of them... When he told me the story, i was barely holding the laughter in...so I said.. "Ok, by 6 or 7 guys, you really mean there were 3-4 of them.......and they were girls". He replied "Well, maybe, but DAMN they were girlscouts". (joking of course). So, I had to get more details... Did you provoke it? Were you being an ass? Were you talking shit? He said, no...they were just walking to their car. So, I asked, "Well did you at least put of SOME SORT OF A FIGHT?" and his response! "WELL YEAH...... I did a great job of blocking their punches................................ .... ........ ............... WITH MY HEAD" hahah. Cracks me up everytime I think about it. |
i was 15yo (i'm 36 now) had a mohawk, & a skateboard. just a little "punk rock" kid. two 20 yo's jumped me, when they did the momentum of me falling and the force of their weight severely fucked up my spine as it hit the corner of a curb on impact. had back problems ever since.
they were nice enough to stab me too. wasn't too serious of punctures thankfully. the cops came and i figured they would just laugh at me and write it off. They were professional and really wanted to get these guys, which they did. funny, i guess that's when i first got a bug about wanting to be a cop. |
Yup. +1. |
Seriously sorry to hear about that. People in a relationship don't need to be beaten on each other. Sorry MM |

It seems with the talk of pulling pistols, we are beginning to move into the "gray area" here.
What warrants drawing down? If you're being attacked by a mob of people, I think that might qualify. If the attacker is armed with a pipe, club or a machete, that would be another. But where things start to get a little gray is when you are talking about being attacked by one or two unarmed individuals, especially one. I am sure there are plenty of 1 vs 1 fights that lead to major league ass kickings. But unless the attacker is armed or a real beast 2-3 times your size, are you justified in shooting them? IMHO, unless you are in a situation where you are willing to shoot and justified to shoot, you better leave the weapon where it is. If you draw it, you better be willing to use it. There are lots of gray areas where one can';t shoot but can't just go it with bare hands either. This is where martial arts, tasers, pepper spray, etc come into play. |
I've never been beaten but once me and this defensive tackle hit each other so hard on a kickoff that we both got knocked out and ran clear to the endwall of the stadium and then ran off to go sit on the bench.
Problem was, he was on the other team and I followed him off the field....... |
ding ding ding although understandable There will be no fight if I am carrying. |

Westminster CO, I was 19 and staggering out of a 3.2 titty bar called Candy's. I bumped into this guy on my way down the steps to the parking lot. I said, "excuse me" which in my humble opion is not all that offensive but apparently he took offense. The guy, I still don't know his name took a swing at me and I ducked it but stumbled down the remaining two or three stairs.
I didn't fall down but ended up leaning back against the side of a Camaro that was parked at the bottom of the stairs and the offended individual was charging down toward me. As he approached I grabbed him by the head and sent him face first into the hood of the Camaro and he was knocked the fuck out. I had just finished calling him a stupid fuck and going on my way when suddenly three more guys who I don't recall having bumped into ascended upon and started beating the shit out of me. I woke up in the hospital with a broken nose, two broken ribs and a fractured bone in the finger between my middle and pinky of my right hand (I guess I hit somebody rather hard) along with numerous bruises amongst my head and shoulders. |
Mami So sorry to hear this. |
+1 I think the way many "deadly force" laws are written; it is something to the effect of "the threat of death or great bodily harm" If I was CCW; I would be real quick to walk away from any confratation that did not require a firearm to resolve it. |
If I am CCW and someone comes at me intent on causing me great bodily harm? CCW is used. |
What kind of gun do you have? Mine goes *POW*, not *WOOF*. |
Absolutely. When you CCW and a problem presents itself, you're either a gunfighter or a track star. There can be no in-between. |
I was beaten so hard, so much, and so many times....no matter what she did, it couldn't get hard again.
I got in a fight one night while "escorting" three guys out of the bar I bounced at.
I didn't find my contacts until a few days later....rolled up and behind my eyes, they never came out during the fight, although I thought they did until I pulled 'em out one morning after they "came back around". I also couldn't figure out why I couldn't touch my head, even to wash my hair, until someone said a guy was kicking it with cow-boy boots while I was on the ground fighting. What stupidity and fun...... |
Mindy Schaffer...worst lay ever.
Oh...wait....beatings? I haven't been beat since the last time I smarted off to my Pops. Unless I'm at work, I'm not the sort that wanders around looking for a fight. 10-32 |
+1 But the strutting will continue... |
I got beat so bad, it swelled to twice it,s normal size, I,m sorry what whas the topic?....never mind
+1 If you have your gun and you decide to fight and not pull it and you get your ass kicked, you're gonna get your gun taken and either be shot with it or stolen. I doubt your mugger/attacker is gonna let you keep it. |

The worst beating I ever had ......
I was eight and I didn't know what a T wrench was . I was helping my step father do the grounds keeping at one of the local golf courses. He needed the T wrench so he could turn on the sprikler system .I handed him a cresent wrench instead . Well he didn't need a cresent wrench so he threw it at me and knocked me silly . Then he grabbed the T wrench and started pounding on me with that . The next thing I remeber is wakeing up in the hospitol bed the next day . TYhey told me I w as lucky I didn't break anything when I drove the cart over the cliff . I learned later that all of the bruses and lacerations I had was from takeing one of the golf carts on a joy ride and crashing it off of a six foot cliff at the golf course .Lucky me . That was the worst beating I ever took . The last beating I took from him was about a month later . He went after my mom again and I was hideing in my grandm others room with my mom and my grandmother when he broke the door down . He laid my mom out and than he called her a bitch . I don't know what clicked inside but I changed that night and I wasn't going to take it anymore .I jumped up and lunged at him and took a full power swing at his nuts .Tom doubled over for a second than the booze kicked in and he stood up and decked the ever liveing shit out of me. He picked me up from the floor and threw me out of the window in my grandmothers room . The neighbors house was about 10 feet away and I bonced off of the wall and crumpled to the ground . Being that it was a beutifull Sunday afternoon my neighbor was outside mowing his lawn when he noticed the neighbor kid come flying out the window and into his wall . He and Tom went at it while his wife called the police . They took Tom away with them and the next day my mom shipped me off to my father as even though he was abusive it wasn't as bad as what was going on . I never saw Tom again . So yea that was the worst beating I ever took and the one right after it . |

Then you had better have a very good attorney on retainer and a very large bank account. |

Absolutely agree, you should sign up for a class taught by Squatdog this instant. Dont be a victim. |
Yup. Walk away, de-escalate, defuse. Have a less than lethal option available. But if your options are exhausted, avoidance is impossible, and a serious beating is coming your way its time to use that CCW. |
We were taught to use verbal judo to diffuse heated moments, & there by not have to use our ccw if it could be fixed otherwise. My worst beating was at the hands of my step dad when he had been drinking. I was about 16 & he was going after my 12 yr old sister who had locked herself in the bathroom to avoid his abuse. I heard the screaming from downstairs & ran to her defense. He kicked the door in as I rounded the corner & I yelled at him to leave her alone. Oops, he turned his wrath on me knocking me down with a punch & then putting the boots to me. My sister was able to escape & made it out the door & down the street, but I was nearly unconscious when he got done kicking me in the ribs & head. I never went to the hospital but I felt that beating for a long time. I had forgotten all about it till a short while ago when my sister started telling me the story & I wasn't sure what she was talking about till it clicked & I remembered it all. My step dad & I are great friends now, & he has been sober for many years. |

I got beat real bad by 4 cops w/sticks. This was back in '91. Fuckers. I didn't do anything.....sure I was high, and I led them on a a high speed chase in my Hyundai....When they finally stopped me, I bailed out of the ride and went at the pussies. They shot me with a taser but I was so fucked up I didn't feel shit. Then they just started beating me.
Good thing a guy got it all on tape. LAPD... they are the suck. Can't we all just get along? |

Ahahahahaha! |

I hate to say it, but I've never been even remotely beaten on the street. However, being a martial artist, on my way up through the ranks I've taken some serious hits. This is where the Hollyweird thing comes into play. They take 19 hits to the face, then kick someone's ass. I took a jumping spinning wheel kick to the head, and was a limp sack of potatoes for a few hours.
That being said, I have been on the sending end of a beating while on the street. A couple New Year's ago some friends of mine and I were jumped by an overweight, intoxicated individual who wouldn't give up. That poor bastard must have had a splitting headache when he woke up, as his friends carried his knocked out self away. Sorry, dude. |
Fat girl in the bathroom of my buddys trailer. I swear her ass was bigger than the floor. The metal spring door stop thing kept "boing" "boing". Thought I wouldnt get away with it without waking somebody up but nobody ever knew.
Oh sorry. I thought you were talking about sex. It doesnt matter anyways. I would rather take a beating then ride that thing again... |
Never been on the receiving end of a serious beating. Come to think of it, never dealt one out to anyone who didn't start the fight......

A loooong time ago a golden gloves boxer had his way with my face bare knuckle.
He was some local tough guy and was sicked on me by his friends on a false accusation. Turns out they did this often and he always went for it. His dad was also a local detective. He sucker punched me a good one when I wasn't looking. By the time I realized what happened, he hit me again. Then for some odd reason I went all "Rocky" on him and just stood there with my arms down and said "Is that all you got punk." He kept hitting and I kept taunting. I was seeing stars like in the cartoons and could have swore I went down ten times.(was told later that I never did) Later someone said to him "Do you know who you are hitting?" and said my name. I had a bit of a rep back when I was in school, and since he was still in school he had heard about me. He decided to stop pounding me and left. I was just on a cig run when it happened and went home to bed. The next morning I wake up and I can literately see my face, both my cheeks, my brows and my nose. I haven't even looked in the mirror yet. When I did it looked like this My wife about shit and asked me what the hell happened "You just went to get cigarettes" "I taught a punk a lesson" That kid looked over his shoulders for the next 8 years until I moved away. The funnest beating I ever took GM |
