That is about as cool a thing as I have seen.
Its like 90 degrees out at 9:30PM here Was over 100 with the heat index today.....I would trade in a heartbeat! |

You need a rifle slung over the back, so you can shoot those pesky fish that try to bother you.
If you get the right kind of suit(wet suit, dry suit) you can fall into that water and not freeze. What do you think divers use for cold deep water? I wonder if you can just swim with the right equipment regularly in such temperatures?
Funny you should mention that, see there were these harbor seals, and well, I am native (enough) to harvest these sorts of things and well.....I kinda wanna wait till there is a tour boat with in visual range.... Not really, but it is tempting sometimes...... The owner of the jetskis does use them for fishing though. And I have seen another jetski set up with racks for extra fuel, pole holders, cooler, and bait before. |
Very cool hehe
And that's one big ass jetski ! Damn thing dwarfs you... Never seen one like that, even around here, with all the beach geeks running around. neat stuff ! |
We are wearing dry suits. I have a pic coming where my friend is in the water. It is pretty damn cold once you get into the lake area, the water is just above freezing, and you can see your breath. |

I wish I had had a digital camera on my cruise to AK. although it was 97 so digital cameras of the time sucked
Kick ass ski bro and great pics. That is one thing I am yet to do on a jet ski.
HA ! Where's the subwoofer and amp go ! |

That looks like a lot of fun. The only boat I was in in Alaska was some kind of wooden landing craft the Army used in WWII. |
Like the one I had in my driveway a while back? Lots of griz this year, I think 3 have been killed with in 2 miles or so of where i live for being nuisance bears. Usually there are a few blackies running around, but there ar ealot mor ereports of browns this year than black. Please, come up and take some bear.. ETA waiting for page 2 to post more pics..... |
Those are some of the best pics I've ever seen on ARFCOM. Thanks a lot, very cool!
Dude, If one of those things calves, on a jet ski... you're fish food. But cool pics. |
That's the same stuff that the Titanic saw on that fateful night!
Great pics! Thanks! |
Do you eat grizzlies? I've had black bear from around here and it's quite good. |

Outstanding pics yekimak so pardon a little hijack, but is the town in pic #1 Steward? That place looks really interesting. I'm sure some might say "right, for about 20 minutes" but I've always liked poking around looking for smaller towns located in really neat places. Some pics of town someday?

How many miles are you talking about to go from the green arrow to the red X?
So what do most people do to make a living there? Doesn't look too industrial. I'm guessing seafood and forestry? Kent |
Around 15 or so miles I guess. There has not been a whole lot of industry in Seward since the 1964 quake. It used to be the main entry port to the interior of the state, but the earthquake and subsequent tsunami left the place in ruins. The major industries here are tourism and commercial fishing, with the biggest employers being the State and City (our maximum security prison is across the bay.) |

More pics to come tomorrow...just got back from another trip and hopefully some of the movies will come out. The guy who owns the Jetskis just spent a wad of dough on a new sony 7 MP camera, dive case, and gig memory stick so we will see how things turned out.
What's a good photo server to stick them on? |
Very interesting adventure. Thanks for sharing the photos. What are the dangers of such a trip?
Damn, you guys are crazy, than again the ocean scares me shitless. To many big things lurking in the water.
What's the municipal waste treatment situation in Alaska?
I don't know if I could do without broadband though. |
badass!
but dont fall off! Your legs will become so numb you cannot even think of swimming. Take care of that suit, because it will save your life. |
Absolutely Awesome!!!
Next time you get a camera as well, so you can take pics of your buddy. Seems like he's cutting things a bit close as well. Either way, damned! I'm one jealous dude. I'll stick to climbing my little mountains and riding my dirt bike until I get to the big land up North. Again..... Awesome! And Thanks for sharing the pics! |
