A friend of my has a large piece of proprty and wants to build a backstop for a rifle/pistol range. He has a tractor, etc.,. Anyone have some backstop plans/ideas. This is a great opportunity for me as I need to practice quite alot to get ready for some training. Thank's in advance, Ray

Most guys don't seem to build them high enough or stout enough.  I've got a friend with one that has at least 7 feet of dirt with a brow of railroad ties, it is pretty tough.

Another guy had a slight hill on his farm. He used a bulldozer to cut into the hillside and pushed the dirt up and off to the sides. This made a nice pistol area 40 yds deep and 30 yds wide with good protection in almost 180 degrees.

Lots of Dirt. railroad tie or telephone pole backstop. Ties are $15 at HomeDepot.
