I havent read the book....but I have been thinking about the title for some time now.
Could you possibly have a more communistic view of the country?

A village?
uhmmmmmmmm.....how about two responisble parents, one of them a man, the other a woman.

It doesnt take a village...not to raise a kid. Maybe if you are raising socialists, but I dont understand why people are so enamoured with this liberal drivel.

I said something in a conversation about this a few years ago and it became somewhat of a 'one liner' among the friends that were involved in that conversation....

"Kids that are taught to reject responsibility typically grow up to become adults without any"

This liberal crap about needing a village to raise a kid does just that....relieves the parent of the responsibility for directing their own damn kid. This country to is going to hell.....with every passing day, things are getting worse, not better.

Cant wait for the next presidential race.... some unnamed centrist neo-con vs the egomaniac communist....right here in a America

Please God give me a candidate that still believes in you <we need an emoticon for prayer>

A village?  That's a socialist idea.  Not surprised it would be advocated by Hitlery.

Santorum is right.  It takes a FAMILY not a village.

That would force such threads into the Segregated Religion Forum.

"It takes a village..." is an African saying. And everybody knows how fucked up Africa is. 'Nuff said.

To properly raise a child it takes masculine male father and a femanine female mother.

That is all.

It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a MARINE to raze a village.

Village my ass. My parents did just fine without some socialist drivel/communist agenda, thanks. Here I am, 20, and I don't even have a traffic violation on my record. No ND's or AD's either, and I've owned three guns for most of my life and just bought my first EBR.

I went to school with one of those "raised by a village"/Dr. Spock kids. His parents didn't refuse him anything. The first time he ever heard the word "no" was when he demanded another kid's candy bar at lunch.

Kid was screwed up six ways from Sunday. Constantly threw fits, rejected authority from adults, refused to obey any concept of civility, and was essentially nothing more than an obnoxious, selfish brat.

In fact, he once tried stabbing me in the back with a pair of scissors just to see what would happen.

Thank God they moved away before he got into cars.

If you live in a small village then you are going to react with the inhabitants more frequently than if you lived in a big city.

I spent many years in the city and in the country and a fact of country life is

there is less crime....simple as that

Therefore while you grow up in a village environment you do not have to endure the crime allowing a more innocent youth. Now that can be seen as a disadvantage in prepearation for life but there is plenty of time as an adult to reaslise the harsh nature of life...

Kids need to be kids and to grow up in a safe environment

"Kids that are taught to reject responsibility typically grow up to become adults without any"

Very true

And it is also my belief that discipline is what made both our Countries Strong/Great.
And a lack of it will be our downfall

Ya.....the "hoods" are doing a fine job of raising their children. Too bad many of them won't see adulthood and of the ones that do, many of them will see it from the inside of a prison, uneducated, burnt out from drug abuse and with no moral compass in life. They grow up void of anything even remotely resembling respect for other people and don't know what the word honesty means.

America.......worsening generation by generation. We are about one swirl away from disappearing from the bottom of the toilet. God help us if and when these "village" raised socialists reach adulthood.

None, as long as some public-spirited onanist volunteers to drop by and anally fist himself whenever the threat arises.

On average....my observation.....all of them.

The point of this thread isnt to make conservatives feel better about thier choice in policial orientation, but rather, to illustrate that it has become so popular to subscribe to communist ideology that not only is the practice not subversive....the practice will get an author on the NYT best sellers list.

If people want to believe that this is about stroking an ego so be it, but anyone here that has read a representative cross section of my posts should know by now that I dont say an awful lot for the purpose of putting a smile on anyones face. Frankly, most of what I say hurts. The truth often does.....and from what I can tell, theres a lot of truth in the world.
