Quoted:
The gov't and states could ease it by taking of the dual tax they put on gas.  That'd put gas sub 2$ nearly everywhere

and you would be complaining when there was no money to repair the roads or any of the infrastructure improvements that get done.  most all the money for this comes out of the federal aid highway trust fund which is gas tax money that goes from all the states into a big pot and then is doled back out to each state based on a percentage basis ...some get more back than they contribute.

btw, how much do you think the taxes are? here they are like .35 a gallon (fed and state if I recall correctly).  it was a big percentage when gas was a dollar...now its not a big percentage.

We were told to expect it to be that high by mid september.  Normally if someone tells me something like that I don't believe it,  but it was the home office that sets our gas prices..... we're at 2.27 right now and cheaper by a nickel than anyone in town.
