Im looking for an inexpensive starter set. Clubs, bag, the whole shootin match.

Friend of mine just got a whole set of Ram golf clubs with bag for $150 from Play it again Sports. Which included a driver, 3 & 5 wood, 3 iron/wood, and irons from 9-PW with a putter. Is that a good deal? Is there something better to be had online?

Check out Tommy Armours 855's.

Those were my first set then I tried everything else and now play them again.

Great, inexpensive clubs.

EBAY!!!
I got an awesome set of Titleists for ~$200. The titleist 975D driver can be had for $30(the same one Tiger uses) on ebay.

I suggest these. I was outbit but the buyer backed out. I wish I got them but alreayd bid and won another set. A complete titleist set 1-sw for $100 and bag !!! All you need is a driver and a fairway wood(see above) and your set.

That set of Rams will serve you will as you learn to play the game.

eBay is a great source for used equipment, but it is quite easy to get burned.

Did you ever end up getting hired with the Police Department, Chocolate?

Try here:

Pinemeadow Golf

They have a starter set with everything for $169.00 and a decent selection of used clubs.  Their prices on regular sets are pretty good, too.  My friend just bought a set and is really happy.

Ping is about to release the new G5 irons and driver...you might could find a set of G2 at a good price.

I would recommend staying away "cheap" sets.  Just like gear and guns, you get what you pay for.  A good used set is better than a new knock off set any day.  Look for some Pings (not any of the Zing models) or Callaways (X12, X14 or X16) or believe it or not the Cleveland TA5 are good irons.

Good Luck

Look for a set of used Ping G2 if you are just starting the game. They are very forgiving and you will enjoy playing with them.

ebay has some of the best golf deals, you can get the new Taylor Made R7 driver there for half of what it costs at your local shop.

I love the set of Callaway X-18's I bought this year. 454 Ti Driver, Big Bertha 3 & 5 woods
Callaway Heavenwood 3 and 4 Irons.
Those and a 6-pack of lessons knocked 25-30 strokes off my game.
Not exactly intro priced, though. I coulda bought 2 more AR's for what I have in em.
