I just bought a surplus HK P9S from AIMSURPLUS and I am amazed at the accuracy of the weapon. The target below is from 25ft shooting 9mm IMI 124g ball ammo, 9 rounds. The mechanism is pure HK. Looks like a shrunk down HK91 with rollers and all. Super nice trigger. The recoil is a bit stiff for a 9mm and I had problems with quick follow ups until I got used to it. But once I got used to the recoil, I could easily keep most rounds in the black.
My specimen was a little rough on the outside. The plastic is all dinged up and the slide shows a lot of holster wear. The inside mechanical parts look pristine without any wear at all. It must have been used by some German LEO to qualify once a year and to carry to work. I was able to get new plastic ordered for $70 and slide is going to HK for a refinish. |

You can see where there must have been a retaining mechanism near the serrations on the slide. The blue is worn in that area. HK said they would buff that out and refinish it for $100.

Interesting pistol. I had one a long time ago (back when you could hardly give them away) as well as two different .45's. Every one I ever saw (several others besides mine) was accurate as all Hell. They are obsolete now, but so is OP's S&W M24 .44 Spl. revolver, and that does not make either one, one bit less enjoyable to shoot. ALL accurate firearms are interesting, obsolete or not. (Actually the correct term here probably should be "obsolescent", and not "obsolete", since these handguns are still, clearly, capable of performing their intended jobs)

I resize using Paint because my image-fu is weaker than many...just open the picture with Paint (the cheap one that comes with windows), go to the IMAGE tab, then select STRETCH/SKEW, then if you want it say half the size that it is stretch width AND length (to keep proportional) by the same amount.....
stretch it by 50% and it should be reduced in half, stretch it by 200% and it is doubled... then save/upload you sure you're a doctor ?

The PIC merely reflects the size of the wallet. Hence your $150 commie surplus pistol vs my over engineered German craftsmanship. I am joking of course. Some of my favorite shooters are my MAKs. Damn accurate and $129 each!

I had a Makarov - I was stupid for selling it. It was a fun, and damnned accurate handgun. I can't recall the piece ever jamming on me; Com-Bloc crap usually isn't well-enough-designed to jam  .This pistolet is a CZ-52, and they're truly weirdo guns - they fire subgun ammo at warp-speed velocities, and have a roller-locking mechanism, like an HK-G3. |
