ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) - One hand grenade exploded at a police station in the Pacific coast resort of Acapulco on Monday, damaging two patrol cars but causing no injuries. Another grenade was found unexploded outside.
The grenades, apparently tossed from a passing car, caused "a loud explosion in the interior of the station," said police supervisor Rodolfo Suastegui.

It was the second grenade attack at the station in the Puerto Marques neighborhood this year; another grenade was tossed at the station in February, but no one was hurt.

However, three police officers were wounded on when assailants tossed a hand grenade into a police post in the tourist resort of Zihuatanejo, just west of Acapulco, on June 28.

That attack occurred on the tenth anniversary of a notorious massacre in southern Guerrero state.

Guerrero state has witnessed a stubborn wave of killings and kidnappings in recent months.
