The stuff is amazing.  My 10 year old is buying the stuff like crazy.

They are selling them at Target.   They claim to have 2 different versions, one more "accurate" that costs a few bucks more.   He bought the "good" ones and the ones sold at Target and I can't tell what the difference is supposed to be.

Very nice toys.

He is getting close to having the entire WWII series.

The tanks were 10.99 at Target, the sets of soldiers was 8 or 9.

I think the planes were around 10 also, my kid hasn't bought many of those yet.

The detail is impressive.

I stole the Halftrack from him and I have it on my desk

That's OK.  He will likely know more about WWII history than anyone in his school, including his teacher.

You won't get that type of history lesson in school.

Oh, it gets worse.  There are rules and some cards you can download and print
to battle the pieces against each other.  Think "squad leader" with these things
instead of cardboard.

Wow, kids toys have come a long way from the 1970's- remember when "war toys" were virtually driven off of shelves?

These things look cool

Umm isn't that the reason we actually learned how to build models?

I understand you can just buy them now, but what is the point?

Well, for my 10 year old, he builds models too, but these things are tough enough to
actually do some heavy duty attacks against the Hot Wheels and other
assorted enemies.  They have taken some real abuse and still hold together well.
