The carbine arives with the M4 RAS installed, a -10 manual, 1 30 round magazine, 1accessory kit for the RAS to include 1 case, 8 panels and a forward grip, 1 non-tactical "silent" sling, 6 magazine dust pouches, 1 nylon dust case and a cardboard box.

My guard unit recieved our M4's last month and let me tell you they looked like shit. Talk about wartime production, rear sight towers loose, obvious machine marks everywhere, and the parkerizing was rough.
However, I was glad as hell to get them, the M16A2 is a fence post, trying to get in and out of a HUMVEE or helicopter in a hurry was a bitch. Kind of strange that the M4's came in a cardboard box just like the civilian ones, ours didn't have the RAS installed. |

Alot of the old A1 lowers ended up in the Navy's hands mated to new A2 uppers. My units has almost 100 of them. I was issued a shiny new Colt 727, which took me several hours to clean the storage grease out of it. |

Considering the list price for an M16A4 from FN for the Military is about $1200-1400, I'd say $1100 for a Colt M4 is pretty good.

I said I'd like to know what else is included. Certainly a RAS will add some cost. But 50K units is still a big guaranteed order for any complex machining job. I HOPE the govt doesn't pay Ford retail for all the shitty work vehicles it buys every year. But they probably do. Never mind. |

Considering an A4 is 1200-1400, I would doubt that the RAS and flattop upper are going to be $800 more...

Dealer cost on an m4 is below $1k rather far below it. Now you would think at an order of 51k rifles you would at least get dealer cost, what a crock of sh!t
ETA: Just opened my big book and for a M4 Commando your looking at around $800, for an M4 Carbine your looking at around $850+ since these arent things sold to the public I don't see a problem in releasing the numbers it wont hurt any ones pricing.

Uhhh......if you're just now figuring out the Military pays about double on everything, as in the civilian world, if not more, then holy cow. We had a FN spec sheet on the M16A4 on our Barracks Wall in BT/AIT, for one, that said the price for the military was $1600. And the M4 is cheaper, so it'd be around $1200 or so. Does your "Colt List Sheet" have info about selling to the Military? If not, then it doesnt freaking matter. |

That's on top of 124,803 M4's they got last year:
Colt Defense L.L.C.*, Hartford, Conn., was awarded on April 28, 2004, a delivery order amount of $0 as part of a $123,035,995 firm-fixed-price contract for 124,803 weapons in either M4 carbine or M4A1 carbine configurations. Work will be performed in West Hartford, Conn., and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2007. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This was a sole source contract initiated on Oct. 14, 2003. The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Rock Island, Ill., is the contracting activity (W52H09-04-D-0086). So that's 175,000 or so M4's in the last 17 months. Go Colt! |

That is for the M4 part of the MWS. There is nothing to indicate that they get M16A4s from Colt. Actually, it doesn't break it down, so it's hard to tell. |

I got a shipment of A4s in a while ago, to replace the last of my A2s and all those were FNs. There are Colt made A4s, I have a couple in my armory, but when they were made is a different question. They may have been part of the initial run and no longer made, but they were made at one time.
