I had been saving this for my 7000th post, but I never was one to worry about milstones, so here it is now. This is a list of all my favorite oldies and classic rock songs I have collected over the years. It is one hell of a list. I thought I'd share it with you folks here, as it might be helpful to other's who also like music of this period, but may not remember the name of a song or performer. Copy and paste this into a Word document or print it and out and save it. That way when you start hunting up songs, you won't have to worry about remembering each one. I'm sure there's something in this list for everyone, as it includes 563 songs spanning 3 decades. I'm not sure how many of these will be available for online purchasing/downloading, as I got most of mine the hard way. But I'm sure many will be available. Some of them may be a bit off as far as the exact time periods I have listed, but I tried to arrange them as best as I could. Enjoy.

As you can imagine, I have CD's stacked to the ceiling. LOL. And that's just my 50's, 60's and 70's stuff. When my favorites of the 80's and 90's (admittedly I liked the 80's amd 90's music much less), I have what amounts to a mountain of music. But that has some good points to, the main one being I have enough tunes so as to never get tired of any of the songs.

5 CCR songs?
5?!?? And NO Boston?!???????!!!!!!!!!??????????????????????????????????????????????/ Whiskey Tango Mike Foxtrot!!!! This thread makes Baby Jesus cry. ETA: One........Boston.......song.....one? A whole whopping one? They have the fastest selling debut album of all time and one of the best-selling debut albums of all time and all you can come up with is "one song"? |
Why are yu trying to steal my sayings? |
LOL.
As for CCR, pretty much everything they did was good. I would have had to list 40 songs to include them all. So I instead just added my personal favorites and left it at that. |
Again, this is MY favorites list. Not everyone's favorite band is gonna be on there. There were some performers that were very popular, just not all of them necessarily with me.
So if you have favorite songs not yet listed, instead of bitching, get your ass busy adding them to this list! Let's expand this sucker to make it even better. |
Bobby Freeman- Do You Wanna Dance (he wrote and recorded it first, with the congas.....)
Your music-fu is strong but you must purge yourself of evil Tommy James thoughts

Thanks for the correction Nightstalker. I probably have several of these songs listed that are incorrectly credited or performed by someone other than the original artist.
Acouple of these were intentional, since in a few cases, a later version was more popular or sounded better. But the rest were somehow mixed up. I got quite a few of these songs from people who downloaded them from Napster, WinMX, etc. Often with those, you have to trust the person who places them online to get the info accurate. Many times they are badly off. So if anyone see's one that needs correcting, feel free to draw my attention to them. |
Did you make the picture with Baby Jesus crying? If not, then it's not your saying. And you're killing me Charging Handle.....you are killing me. |

I have been a rock drummer since 1964 and I could add probably a thousand songs to this list. I will add some different songs for a few artists you listed.
Paul Revere and the Raiders: Just Like Me...... Hungry.... Steppin Out..... Kicks.... Good Thing. Steeley Dan: Aja album....every song Reelin in the Years.... Do It Again.... Chain Lightning. Deep Purple: Smoke on the Water.... Women from Tokyo... Child in Time.... Fireball.... Super Trooper... Rat Bat Blue. I could go on but I won't bore you anymore because I like almost everthing except, cRap, Opera and Gospel. |
