Yup, saves you LOTS of problems in the long run.
Not a big deal, I actually rinse my dishes off before I put them in the sink. That way they don't stink like hell in a couple days. |

yeah, cause I do a load about every 2 days wait until the dishwasher is full before running it, about 1/2 the stuff is cat food bowls which stink so I just rinse them before putting them in the dw

Dishwashers are not intended to clean the plates/cups. They are intended to sanitize them. Running the dishwasher with food scraps/crumbs on it means your next cup of milk is crunchy.

Unless your diswasher is restaurant grade (still requires rinsing) You should clean your plates prior to dishwasher cleaning. Dishwashers are great for the sanitizing aspect and drying spott free. As for scrubbing and waste disposal, they suck.

I wind up rinsing everything off, because the really loose stuff comes right off when I spray it anyway, and anything that doesn't come off under a hot water sprayer at the sink probably ain't coming off in the dishwasher either. Andif something's burned on even slightly, forget it.

I use to do that, now I have a dishwasher with a built in garbage disposal! Just throw them in and run the machine. |

It take 5 seconds to rinse your plate/bowl/cup AFTER you're done with it. 99% of the shit comes off, and you can leave it in the sink, or on the counter NEXT to the sink, without it stinking or attracting bugs. Don't put food-laden plates in the dishwasher. They're for sanitizing. They're not meant to dissolve cakes.
Putting food-laden plates in there just means that I'll have to fix it sooner. |

Definately rinse. I HATE finding dried out food in the bottom of my glasses.
Most dishwashers just aren't designed to dispose of food very well. |

I lived without a dishwasher for 2.5 years in Louisiana. We offered to buy one, install it, and leave it there after we moved out, but landlord said Nope, they are too newfangled and he doesn't trust them.
This was in 2000. This was the same landlord that told us not to get a riding lawnmower, just get a goat and let it take care of the lawn. I sh!t you not. Louisiana is America's very own Third World Country. |

Hit it with the scrubber sponge and hot water to knock loose any stuck-on stuff, then let the dishwasher take it from there.

Prewash. I don't even know why I use a dishwasher. I clean them well enough to just dry them and put them away.
Half my stuff isn't dishwasher safe anyway. Teflon cookware, nice knife set. Stuff like that. My last spatual friggin melted in my dishwasher. I'm mostly just concerned by getting food chunks clogging up the drain in the dish washer. Majority of my cookware sits in the sink for a few days because I'm lazy and don't have anybody to impress. |

You have to clean up all food debris before putting in the dishwasher or the drain pipe can clog. Those with even half the skills of Tim Allen know that pipe is too small to deal with much debris. The clueless guys are just as bad as the clueless gals. I’d rather spend my weekends shooting than working on plumbing, so, “Wash fairly thoroughly pre-dishwasher.” |

I use Cascade Complete. That said I still clear off most of the food prior to putting dishes in the washer.
