And they happen to be murders and you give the cops bodies etc to prove you did them should your rights still exist or should you have no rights but the right to be punished any way the families see fit.

What is "the right to be punished"? That makes no sense. Does his plea involve confessing to get a reduced sentence, or is it more you get immunity in exchange for cooperation to nail someone else higher up on the food chain? |

It would depend on the plea bargain.
If you get one that would give you immunity, the immunity is usually only good for certain crimes that they are specifically trying to investigate. If you spill the beans about murdering some people and they are only offering immunity over your involvement of a money laundering scheme then they'll hook you up on the murder rap. Also, if you make a deal with the state to confess to certain crimes in exchange for immunity you will also have to make sure that you get federal immunity if it applies or you'll just get charged in a different court and you'll get hooked up. Getting immunity for murder is very rare and in the cases that I can think of the guys that did were mob guys that were going to go away for life anyway and all that they did was evade the death penalty. Basically, you're going to jail. It was nice knowing you!

That one, lets say you where charged with murder and as a plea bargain to avoid the death penalty you admit to 3 more murders and have physical evidence. Should the immunity still stand? I would say hell no. |

Depends.
In the ongoing attempt to nail John Gotti, the prosecutor got a little careless and didn't read the fine print. They wound up giving blanket immunity to Sammy "The Bull" Gravano, only find out they'd given him a pass on something like 20-30 murders. The deal stood. |

Someone was watching TV tonight.
There is a guy in Prison in Texas who may get out. He pled 24 years ago to a murder during a Burglary. He made a deal and admitted to something like 12 other murders and led them to the bodies etc. He got immunity and 60 year sentence. Because of a fucked up law in Texas (first time offender) he gets three days credit for every one day he does, so he is up for release. He has said he will kill again if released. He has admitted to more than 80 murders and tried to admit to 22 Murders in PA for immunity but they declined. |
