my wifes cousin is in the states now...

he is a green beret..and has been in that hell hole since a couple of weeks after 9-11.

his unit is now the highest decorated..special forces unit since vietnam.
the only loss his unit suffered was a KIA 6 days before shipout and that the soldiers family was in extremely rough shape...

he was awarded 2 bronze stars...for his actions.

they were 1 click from the pakistani boarder most of the time..

his summary..

1- they dont like women and children..over there. they treat them worse than livestock.
2- most men in Afganistan are gay, and use boys for sex whenever possible.
3- Osama...is in pakistan...no question.
4- the mountains in A-stan suck...
5- he is damn glad to be home...with his new wife and family...more than ever.

Had a buddy over there. Said the Afganis are big time gay and like little boys. He said the older men would make the little boys do dances for them and the dances were disturbing to say the least. He also felt very uncomfortable about how the older men touhed and hung onto the boys. Said he wanted to lob a 203 round right into them a few times.

May be a local thing to the area because I dont hear that about Iraqis.

Just nitpicking.  He's in the Special Forces.  He's not headgear.

Funny you mention that place...i'll be deploying there in the next 6 months...not for nearly as long as your cousin though...hopefully

I heard he was in the northeast frontier providence in Pakistan. Real shithole. Everybody and I mean everybody carrys a AK and knows how to use it. If you can call spray and pray shooting. These are real hard core extremest and think Bin Laden is a damn god. Government of Pakistan doesnt even venture into this area.
