Here's a couple of newly-scoped "friends" that are coming with me to the Third BloggerShoot tomorrow...

This'll be the first time I've fired either rifle or scope since I mounted them. Since I am an old hand at this, and know all the potential screwups, I'll be taking along my trusty set of allen/torx wrenches, and plan on sighting in at short range.

I got it UNISSUED. Price was $175. Scope's a Burris 3 x 9 x 40 Fullfield II on a Cad Tecnik mount from Brownells.

1955 contract Fazakerly in .303 Brit. It shot a .772" 2-round group today @ 100 yards with my handloads.

w00T!

The JLD PTR 91 shot a group in the sub 1" range, with one flyer opening to 1.87". I got one group of 3 rounds in .962" a 4-round in 1.09", and about 10 rounds into 1.28".

This was with South African milsurp from the 80s!

Thx. I'll be headed to the Tanner Gunshow (even after reading Swindle 1984's excellent critique of the gun show world) tomorrow to hopefully find a Jungle or O.D. Green grip for the rifle.

Robert from RTG has them for $7.50. I am sure that the tweaker that sells HK parts will want like $47 for one.

Pff. My SKS can shoot .310 diameter 1 shot groups all day long! Beat that!

Seriously though, that Enfield is NICE.

Thank you for not drilling and tapping that beautiful No.4.

Smartass.

None of the conditions were ideal; the bench was wobbly today after Jed forgot the cross-leg supports. The comb pads aren't locked down, and I was getting wicked tired - we were there 7+ hours.

I'll bet that off a real bench, with rested eyes, with my handloads, I'll be able to do a 5-shot in around an inch on that rifle. Maybe less.

Yeah, no kiddin' - there's what, 12-leventy bazillion hack gunowners trashing their shit in the world; why in God's name would I want to contribute?

If I wanted a Fuddite gun, I'd just go out and buy a Browning.

Why do so many people hack up perfectly good rifles?
