LEAVE LINK COLD I hate these guys. Attributing some sort of magnificent "cop killer" quality to the gun is just bogus. They are more prevelant in criminal hands because they are one of the most purchased and affordable guns in anyone's hands. I really hate when they say that the "guns killed" Horseshit. The guns WERE USED BY GOBLINS to kill... |
Bingo. I had to explain that rather bluntly to a young medical examiner at a death review meeting last year - right after three officers were killed in one incident with one here. ETA: Just read the link and saw that they mentioned that shooting, of course. |
I love how they use the Norinco D model in the picture as if to imply that all SKS rifles use AK mags
Damnit!
Looks like i will be buying a CRATE in honor of sarah brady sooner than i thought. this is not a joke. |
Yup, I've noticed that some vendors are selling YUGOs by the crate at fun shows in the last year or two. |
REALLY?! Im just looking for that damn crate! folks are wanting to charge me 200-250 for a damn wood box. Not gonna happen when i can buy two damn rifles for the price of the box! |
on a happy note, VPC doesnt have to worry about gun makers "violating" the AWB see http://www.vpc.org/studies/USofAW.htm
Violatinos B Gone! |
Yeah, right, like I can get an SKS D for $180. Where? And while they're at it, where are all my assault weapons available on every street corner? That would be damn convenient. I usually have to order mine, or at least drive 45 minutes or so to the gunstore. Can't trust these guys for anything. |
Let me know when you find a distributor who'll sell a crate of them. Sounds like just the thing to use as a coffee table in New Jersey - a crate of SKS rifles covered with a nice glass top.
I'd do it. Cheaper than some meaningless piece of furniture that serves to please only an aesthetic sense of design. This would please me in so many ways. |
Some manufacturers could use their 'pages' their as Ads... |
The SKS IS my father! |
Ahem. Sorry 'bout that. I hereby amend my statement to include the phrase "present company excepted" |
Goddamn it. If the VPC makes me buy a SKS I'm really gonna be mad.
I love how they keep using ATF trace numbers to make their cases, even though the ATF has repeatedly said that they run traces on firearms for many reasons, not just because they were used in a crime.
But the VPC never let the truth stand in their way before, so why should they start now? |
Glad I only have 4 SKS's. Looks like I ought to get another dozen. A crate of a dozen would be awesome.
I've got an SKS that uses AK mags, but it doesn't have that dorky looking thumbhole stock thank god.

Listen Mr. "I can get any H&K I want with my LE Demo"..... |
wtf? is that a bunch pachucos in purple zoot suits? |
A dingo with an SKS stole my baby! |
An SKS shoved a frozen fish up my ass!! |
There goes another keyboard |
Dammit all to hell. Glad I wasn't taking a sip. |
So you're an AK-47 then, right? |

Is there anything in the VPC piece that is factually inaccurate?
The main points seem to be that the SKS is common and 7.62x39mm ammo penetrates conventional soft body armer. Both of which are true. |
If you want to be obtuse about why they are selecting this rifle to demonize you go right ahead. |
i got my yugo SKS from Duhnams for 100bucks |
You could start with the dozen or so times they refer to a semi-automatic SKS as an "assault rifle." |
Okay, and that's a valid critisism of the piece. Although you could argue that VPC is simply using the common usage definition rather than the technically definition of "assault rifle." Does their misuse of the term "assult rifle" somehow discredit their claims that the SKS is one of the rifles used most often to kill police officers and that 7.62x39mm ammo penetrates conventional soft body armor? |
There is nothing "high capacity" about the SKS unless you refer to specific mods. It is not an "enhanced threat" over any other rifle or carbine that can exceed 2000fps.
I'm almost positive this has been proven false before. 1 out of 5 officers are killed by "long guns" there was no data I ever saw that classified them in any catagory as "assualt weapons" at least not from the FBI. I can even present factual information in a completely biased and hyped up emotional way. If you can't understand the irritation that causes then it's deliberate or you agree I don't know which it is. I've seen you play this game before with the 5-7 hysteria that was going on. I'm not sure what your motive is for it. |

Wow, I didn't even know Norinco exissted almost 40 years ago, that must of cost what, $25 in 1968??? Again, wow! |
Probably waaay less. Their workers probably got half a penny an hour back then or even less. FYI this was probably imported in before the 89 Ban. Ben |
Hey, that's not a half-bad idea! Think they'd like feature it on Home & Garden TV? |
Im still wondering where I can buy a case of these hell they're going to $300-$350 here
when you can find them |
No surprise, but the ad showed an SKS D (factory mod'd to accept AK mags). I paid a lot more than $180 for mine. |
The SKS turned me into a newt.... I got better. |
That ad has got to be over 8 or 9 years old..... Nevermind most SKS rifles don't accept detachable mags.. Ben |
That is why VPC et al call them "assault weapons" instead of assault rifles. There is no definition of assault weapon. Sometimes these groups and their supporters call high capacity pistols such as Glocks assault weapons. |
