Just checked my speeds after hearing about another upgrade... Some folks complain about Comcast...  Personally, I haven't had any trouble at all with them, and keep getting faster and faster speeds.

I was on the "gold tier" at 6000/768 and was just upgraded to 8000/768.

Previous 4000/384 subscribers are now bumped up to 6000/384 speeds.

Here's my latest speed tests...

Just tested it a min ago...
Did three back to back tests on the DC server.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 8208 kbps (1026 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 697 kbps (87.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Dont make me run back to the office and test the new 64 megabit DS3 circuit Verizon installed for us last week

but yeah, you win.  Since I have the best upload though, does that mean I have to seed all of the torrrents from now on?

I kind of got that call from SBC Yahoo! DSL.

"Do you mind if we double your upload/download speeds and reduce your monthly rate by $4?"

Uhh, let me think about that...

...

...

No I don't mind.  Do it!

Lucky. I heard that they aren't goign to be expaning the fiber optic service beyond the test markets. I REALLY hope that isn't true. Fiber puts cable and DSL to shame.

Be careful - they give you the high speeds but they won't let you use them all the time.  A few years ago Comcast started putting download caps on their cable accounts, canceling accounts when the customer hit some double-secret number of bytes.  The bandwidth limit seems to be somewhere around 50GB/month, but I know people who have been canceled at 15GB/mo.

Go to DSL Reports.com and do a "tweak" test.
Methinks your 'puter may have issues if you can't get decent speeds. (Unless you are in a real busy/oversold area)
