Troo dat! At one job, one of my coworkers had decided to change herself. She started working out, changed her diet, lost about 60+ pounds, the whole bit. Most of us enouraged her, partly because she publicly shared her goals with us and partly because she was (is) just a nice person.Having achieved her goal of whatever pounds, she took herself to the beauty parlor and had her nails and hair done up. She came in the next day, wearing a red skirt, tight fitting, with matching nails and shoes, and a new do, and looked like a million bucks. I said "Good morning, XXXXX, you look great!" which she did, and she said "Thanks!" and I got written up for sexual harassment.
Not by her though- by a toad-woman coworker who felt that my compliment 'demeaned' XXXXX and made her, toad woman, feel like 'an object or meat'.
WTF? I asked HR to ask XXXXX if she felt 'demeaned, or meat' and was told that how XXXXX felt is not the problem, but that I had offended toad-woman and needed senisitivity training. My response that toad-woman needed to stay the hell out of my conversations with others just got me in more trouble too!
Mostly irritating was the fact that the HR whale was 5'4" and about 300 pounds and wanted to ask me about my sex life, how I felt about women, and so on. "None of your fucking business!" was not the right answer, apparently, though I did manage to quit before they fired me.
