I am willing to bet if you put a coconut in the over at 400 degrees, eventually it would pop alright......wouldnt want to try it myself though

I've got some rice and some sunflower seeds, but I don't want the nuker to catch fire... (although in college I a friend tried to make popcorn in one of the laundry room dryers*)
*didn't work - note to self, try removing clothes*** next time

***removing clothes from the dryer, not making laundryroom popcorn nekkid, that would be sick.

In Egypt, there is a dish made from "popped" beans of some sort. Pretty tasty. The beans are pretty small, like smaller than a coffee bean. They're light-colored, like a navy bean. They are heated in oil just like popcorn until they pop. All the popped beans are emptied into a bowl, and the beans are served hot. It's different than ful, which is just refried beans, basically.

+1 on the beans.  Any type of seed should pop.

Mustard seeds also.  I heat them, hot peppers and bay leaves in oil to pour over spinach dahl.
