As we all know, on Tuesday a special election was held in Ohio's second congresssional district.  A liberal Democrat lawyer and USMC reserve major and GW II vet was defeated by Ms. Jean Schmidt, a Republican.  The race was pretty close at 52% - 48%...but no cliffhanger.  

Post election, the Dems, especially those on the Left, have been SCREAMING about what a great overall victory they had because they made the race so close in what is a traditionally Republican district.

Yesterday, Rush was discussing this and mentioned that one of the reasons for the [apparent] closeness of the race was that many Republicans simply stayed home.

Here is a quote from a volunteer poll worker from Pittsburg, PA who drove to Ohio to work for Hackett:  I made the trip from Pittsburgh to SW Ohio on Sunday and returned home today. Every second of working on the Hackett campaign was worthwhile.

This just shows how crazy these people are and how absolutely DESPERATE they are for ANY win...ANYTHING!  That they would go to Ohio to help this asshat win is a story unto itself...but one totally lost on the mainstream media.

Had Hackett won, it would have been the biggest story since The Crucifixion!    He would have been immediately annointed as a leading light and savior of the Dems in their relentless fight against Bush.

Made my day when he bombed...and yet..."they" still think they got something positive out of the election...???

Rush followed up on this just a few minutes ago by making fun of the democrats calling a defeat a victory. He says they are now thrilled with just getting a moral victory such as losing by a narrow margin. LOL. They truly are desperate. Wait, pathetic would be more accurate.

The pukes at DailyKos and other Dem nests have been shortstroking all over about the 'closeness' of the race in 'an overwhelmingly conservative district'.
Someone should point out to the self-deluding fools that the Presdient only got 54% in that district.
2%. 2% is what they are using to convince themselves they're stampeding to overwhelming success in '06.
Sad fools. It's going to be SO enjoyable to watch them crash for the 10th straight year.

Traditional Communist philosophy:   It does not matter how well done the work is, as long as it was done.  This is why there is a shortfall of competent people in the Ols Soviet Union, anyone who stuck out by doing a good job got sent to Siberia.  The Dems are becoming exactly the same way.  What matters is how much work is put into something, that is what makes it valuable, not that you come out with something valuable.

In college this was a problem in the art classes I was in . . . many kids expected good grades for all of the hard work they did (and some got them) on a project that was a failure . . . ugly, incomlpete, poorly made.  Symptoms of a sickness.

But take into account that the challenger was in the military, and the Dems brought in their "dream team" of poll workers, sounds like the Republican victory was actually pretty impressive.

So that's why NPR made such a big deal of it this morning. I listened to part of the story on the way in to work today but couldn't muster the care to actually think about it.

Yes!  For some perverted reason that only socialist asshats like the losers at National Commie Radio and DU can understand, they see this election as a harbinger of things to come!

That is why I'm talking DESPERATION!

When close enough is good enough

Hey, maybe the Dims can start calling it " Delayed Victory", sorta like the proposal in the PRNJ to not give kids "F"s anymore.

At first I thought they were referring to VOTERS coming from Seattle, Boston, Chicago, etc.

Then I remembered this was the Democratic Party.

This is so dumb.  

Congressional seats across the country are gerrymandered up the yin-yang.  The composition of the House is going to remain static for about 10 years and the GOP's going to control it, given the wide margin it has.  The Senate's a whole 'nother ball of wax, especially with asswipe "GOP" senators like Ohio's.

If I was a Democrat I'd be disturbed.  Candidates cannot run as liberal Democrats except in big cities, and voters can't be fooled when Democrats run on things like lower taxes, smaller government, and tough national defense.  Even a uniform doesn't seem to fool the hicks!

That plus the fact that many republicans simply didn't vote because they didn't like some actions by Schmidt made the race close.

Hackett called Bush an "S.O.B." according to what I heard on the radio.  I don't know if the actual statement was the abbreviation or full words of the phrase.

Rush and other hosts played one of Hackett's radio ads.  It sounded like a republican who was siding with the president, not a democrat who was against him.  The ad actually started with Bush's voice - an outtake of a speech where the president was supporting the war on terror, Iraq, etc.

Hackett then comes on the ad and said something to the effect that he agreed with the president and
that's why he went to Iraq.  

If you heard those ads, you'd think that Hackett was fully behind the president.  I'd guess that a bunch of people who voted for him were fooled by this deceptive advertising.  So, the democrats are glad that they had a close race based on lies and deceit and they somehow twist this into growing support for their side?  Amazing.
