Dial up sucks. DSL2 rocks (3 Mb/sec). Verizon is using one of the local towns as a test bed for fiber to the desktop starting at 10 Mb/sec for $29.95, 20 Mb/sec for ten bucks more. |

I have dial-up with analog phone lines so the fastest connection I get is 24.4bps and we don't have cable where I live
Directwave (Satellite) is $600 down and $59/mo or $99/mo for 15 months Netbeam sounds the best though..It's $149 down and $39/mo Someday I'll be able to afford the $149

To make you feel better -
just run the test a second ago, with about 6 bit torrent downloads going at the same time   My account is set for unlimited bandwidth download, 512k upload (I work for the ISP and all, that helps). Late at night when no one is stressing the wireless backhaul, I have seen it hit 15mbit

Okay, ran a new test really really reallly early this morning, when no other customers were really stressing he backhaul on our network. I also changed my PPPoE profile to unlimited upload instead of 512k, just to see how well it would do -

Im not sure how to find my speed.
However, when i click on a link, its like..(click) BAM. There's a TITTY! A couple of years ago when i had dial up it was like... (click).......background.....forehead......nose......chin.....neck.......shoulders........Titty! we have Titty!! you get the idea

That's why I rarely surf Arf.com when I'm at home. It is just too damn slow. I'm on high speed at work and nothing compares to it.
