Growing up I had a Grandmother who was very into geneology.

I am related (distantly and without direct decendency) to Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett & Meriwether Lewis. Obviously so are 1,000s of people.

But it was cool to know when I was growing up. Made me appreciate guys like Boone as a kid.

We're also related to George Washington, and a couple people in the first Jamestown colony.

Was McHenry, of Fort McHenry fame.

Kind of cool.

My aunt was into geneaology and she traced one line all the way back to the settlements. coming over on the first boats, plymouth rock and all that.

Aethelred the Unread, King of England, and his predicessors.  I took a class on early medival history and we studied Alfred the Great (another English King a couple generations prior to Aethelred).  I told the prof. that I would take any criticism of Alfred personally as he was family.

Caesar Nero.

His blood line of other relatives survived (such as cousins, aunts, and uncles) had his name in theirs (Most Latin, then later Italian names had up to 10 names showing blood line). Well, sometime when the unifacation of the Italian Republic, they added a letter and dropped a few surnames, and when my family came in rhe 1890's, he still had the altered Nero name, still being easily tracked to the Caesar.

I learned the fine details when I was in Italy 2 years ago.

I did one of those DNA tests and found I have something rare so have a pretty narrow track back in England. After an ancestor saved William the Conquerors life he got a castle and lands. I have about 40,000 relatives in England now too.

On this side of the ocean one ancestor was George Washingtons next door neighbor. I don't know if they hung out together. I kinda hope they were shooting buddies.

I'm willing to bet a healthy majority the people in our modern Europe and NA are related to founders or rulers. It takes a lot to kill a blood line, and people often had 8 to even dozens of kids.

My maternal grandmother had some documents showing relation to Cullen Baker,
a Texas gunfighter.  He was a very bad man.

Cullen Baker

I have a 1954 edition of a book called "Cullen Baker, Premier Texas Gunfighter" that has the
name of a sister or aunt to Cullen that my family is all descended from. We were never
sure if she was his sister or aunt, the records are pretty vague.

He was an asshole.

On my Grandfathers side, he comes from the family of Jim White, one of the first people to
explore the Carlsbad Caverns, and the town outside of there, White City, is named for him.
