Heard on the local 6:00 news

Seems a 16yr old tried to car jack an auto belonging to a 36yr old on Fayette St in Saginaw MI.  The 16yr old shot the 36 yr old in the stomach.  The 36yr old wrestled the gun away from the assialant & shot him in the head.  The 16yr old died a short time later at the hospital.  36yr old is recovering.  Police are investigating further.

Yeah that's freaking good.  Or would it have been better if the kid had killed the driver and taken off with the car?

A guy gets shot while a crime is being committed against him, and still has the fortitude to defend himself.  Don't get all "Will somebody please think of the children" on us.

Nothing is wrong with me. Getting shot is not my idea of a good outcome. And killing a 16 year old is not a goodday.  Taking human life is simply a neccesary evil. Not in any way a good outcome.

Does a hockey or soccer goalie that accidentally knocks one in for the opposition in a scrumm get an assist?  We could look at that as a precedent.

That's what I'm sayin'. Or maybe this is sort of like the self-defense equivalent to a Safety in football - the defense gets the points for the offense shooting itself in the foot. Or getting shot in the head.

Why are you overanalyzing this?  Living to tell the tale of defeating a scumbag criminal IS a good outcome.  Not having some asshole skate through juvi court for a felony IS a good outcome.

Failure to communicate.

No one said "it's a good day when you kill someone."

They said "Good outcomes."

The event was begun.  A gun was drawn, an innocent man shot.  Several outcomes are possible, one is neccessary.  The one where the innocent lives, the crimes are thwarted and long expensive, taxpayer funded trial and appeal process is avoided is indeed "good outcome" for the event which was begun and indeed required some sort of outcome.

I think your missing the point...the kid being killed is a good thing...he was a scumbag criminal, and this way it saves the taxpayers lots of money. I don't think equating a scumbag perp being killed being good with wanting someone to rob you so you can draw down and kill them makes any sense....
