I could never get into those guys.
The fact that Geddy Lee's voice sounds like a cat being tortured in an air raid siren while someone riding in a train with the full brakes on runs his fingernails down a chalkboard might have something to do with it. |

When "the times" call for instruments linked with MIDI, harsh sounding digital recordings, a truck load of effects processors to muddy up a perfectly good guitar signal, obscene use of reverb, drums processed so heavily that they no longer sound like a real drum kit, and an apparent hearing disorder on the part of the recording engineer, I'd prefer they didn't follow the trend. |

Rush not only has technical precision and excellent production techniques but an ENORMOUS amount of Rush's song material is VERY positivistic and beautiful. Instead of whining about how someone's girlfriend left them or how rotten life is, Rush promotes POSITIVISM, the respect of beauty, the value of life and of TRYING to succeed. They sing about everything from hard work ( Working Man ) to Space Flight ( Countdown ) to photography ( Available Light ).......THESE ARE SOME OF THE ONLY GOOD GUYS IN ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Lyrics more than music. Read the lyrics off of a lyric server. Even without the music those songs were very powerful poetry. Dont look at anything past 1987, regardless of desertmoon wanting to kill me for saying it
