Not just pipes. exhaust manifolds woudl be a good thing...

You used to see a lot of those in the Panhandle of Texas.  V-12's running water pumps for irrigation systems.

I've even seen old surplus Allisons and RR Merlins in use that way.

Looks like some kind of V12.
+1 on the being crazy for running it without exhaust of some kind hooked up. Good way to burn a valve.  He should at least have some zoomies or something hooked into the exhaust.

Not big enough to be an Allison or Merlin, but similar design.  Some kind of industrial engine that's for sure.

I was a crew chief on a P-51 for years, those are BIG ENGINES.

The Merlin on that thing weighed over 1700 pounds.....
