Cuss? Sounds like it's more of a dixie word. Obviously "curse" has been around first and then it eveolved into "cuss" in some parts of America.

That sounds about right to me.  The southern pronunciation of curse would soung like cuss to one of low breeding and a northern birthright.

Good day to you, suh.

A curse is wishing some 'end' upon someone, as in the curse of the mummys' tomb, a spell, "go fuck yourself" or "eat shit".

Cussing is using what are generally socially unacceptable words without wishing the act on someone. One usually cusses when one gets Garand thumb: "OW...SHIT!", or "I'm a fuckin' idiot".

Incidently, my sources tell me that the word 'fuck' is actually an abreviation of 'For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge'.  Made a crime by the English throne to keep the Kings' troops out of the brothels and from contracting debilitating STDs therein. YMMV.

I am, and it is.

Actually, the proper term in Deep East Texas is "soda water" as in "Lets get a red soda water and a peanut pattie. That'll hold us 'til supper. Since it's been four hours since dinner."
