The first pic, they look all too happy to be jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane.

ETA: Whats hanging on the "walls" to the right, is that some armor protection?

just insulation, it gets cold up high

most millitary aircraft have no armor, just missle defenses (flares and chaff and map-o-teh-earth)

I would much rather jump a C130 than a 141. I hated 141 jumps.

Looks like fun.  My bn co offered me a slot beginning 03Aug at the last minute but I turned it down on account of my now deceased grandmother's health.  I woulda kicked my own ass if I'd been gone when she passed on.  Such is life, with luck, another opportunity will present itself.

well Kris,

imagine going from 150mph to 0 in four seconds

with these NUTSTRAPS on your nuts

(this is the proper tension as well)

and then, after this, you hit the ground so hard if you reach out with one leg instead of both, it snaps.

this is especialy true as a paratroop gets heavier, over 200 lbs

WOW, am I outta touch................When did they move the reserve handle ?

they changed it about a month ago.

testing showed the old system to have only 75% opening rate, which is why they tell you to smack the flap in the pre-jump

the new system is 99%, the ripcord pins go through 550 cord instead of those metal nipples, which caused the problem.

I think they moved the ripcord to the top for the lefties

For me most of the pain was getting on the plane and the toryuteous hump after the jump. I was an AG once and I swear I had tears fomming down my face as I was getting JMPI. It was physically imposible to stand up on my own power without assistance. Then again that sounds like every jump.

Those 130's made some real freaky sounds. I was more scared to land in one than to jump one.
