It's all about working on it from the inside. "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of suburbia, I shall fear no soccer mom. My Glock and my Garand, they comfort me." [:)]
Had my garage door open today while I was setting up the reloader. Our neighbor came home, saw the new truck and came over to take a look. I had always been curious where he stood on firearms, so here was a good opportunity. A summary of our conversation.
"That's a nice truck. Planning on getting a boat now?"
"No, I spent all my money on guns. Do you have any guns? Ever go shooting?"
"Haven't had one ever since we had our kids."
"Ah, let me show you what I have." (Opened the safe and pulled out my stash. Some of his comments...)
Ammo: "Wow, you have a lot of ammo in there." "Just like TP at Costco, it's cheaper to buy it in bulk."
Springfield Milspec .45: "Oooh, very nice..."
AR-15: "That's some serious firepower."
"So I'll take you and your son out shooting one day if you'd like." (His oldest son is about 9 or 10).
"Yeah, sounds fun. Don't tell my wife though, she'd flip."
So, I have some work to do. I'd actually like to get him and his wife to go so she'd see that there's nothing evil or unsafe to worry about. I'll keep everyone posted.
